Hey everybody.. i am new to this site but i am trying to get help... has anybody ever had a rat terrier that has become pregnant by a bigger dog?  My rat terrier is pregnant with a pit bull or a boxer!  This dog has been coming around for a while and he actually tore the gate off the hinges off the porch and went after my little dog..  I am worried that she wont make it through her delivery and if she does i am worried she wont be strong enough to keep these puppies alive! What should i do?  I think that she is too far along to have the pregnancy terminated!   HELP please.

How old is she. I would take her to the vet immediately. A dog termination can be done almost at any point as far as I'm aware...if she's too far along it would be more of a C-section, which she'll have to have anyway if she is pregnant with pups that are too large for her to deliver, or else there's a good chance she will die in delivery.

I don't want to sound harsh, but please, please have her spayed ASAP preferably when the above is done. And please do not leave her outside unattended when you are aware a dog (especially a much bigger dog) has been coming around for awhile. He could have easily killed her.

Hmmmm how long as it been? You might still be able to get her the Miss Mate Shot or worst comes worst you could get her spayed. I would talk to your vet.

Has she been to a vet? Please take her to one asap - it's not too late to save her. And I agree with Tracey - get her spayed!

Besides the obvious risk of pregnancy with a larger dog there are thousands of unwanted puppies already in shelters....not to mention the fact that the dog could have killed her instead of breeding her. If this dog had been "coming around" already then she shouldn't have been left (even on your porch) alone out there. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but these are small dogs and rely on us to protect them.

I had a pitbull once take hold of my little beagle, it was on my wedding day, and I had no time to go to the vet. I bareley had time to get them apart, which was a feet in itself. So she had the puppies, but they were all messed up, and they all past on shortly after. So in this case, I would get to the vet. It didn't work out when it happened to me.

I love my ratty!
