My little rattie Maya, who we've had since she was old enough to take in, has a huge shoe fetish... but only ones my 6 y.o. has on his feet!   She'll always try to bite them from when he walks in the door to when he takes them off.  Doesn't bit anyone elses shoes, or his when they are off.  Doesn't bother feet.   It's the strangest thing.  Any ideas?

Hmmmm....very odd. By any chance does she get excited when he puts them on to leave as well? And does he always take them off when he comes in? Never runs around the house with them on? I only ask because the only thing I can think of is...if he only wears the shoes when he is gone and always walks around without them on is she may be associating the shoes with him (her buddy) leaving her, and thus when he comes in she wants the shoes off and she wants them off as fast as possible As soon as they're off, she's happy because "her boy" is staying home.

By the way, welcome to you and Maya - how long have you had her and where did you get her? We would love to see some pics and for you to stick around and become as addicted as the rest of us to this wonderful place

Maybe you can spray his shoes with bitter apple so it tasted bad when she tries biting them.

Almost sounds like what Mic does with slippers... but he does it with all slippers, not anyones in particular. When Mic was a puppy he used to grab our fluffy slippers and think it was a game, now whenever he sees us wearing them he thinks we're playing with him by walking around and making his "toy" move!

Button's breeder gave socks to the puppies to play with, so to this day she has a fettish about socks. She will nibble at anyone's feet who is wearing socks but without their shoes on. But she hasn't bothered shoes (laces mostly) since she turned about 2 y.o. But she was pretty bad about messing with all shoe laces that wiggled on people's shoes as a puppy. Maybe Maya is just going through a puppy phase she'll pass out of like Button did with shoe laces.

Now if I could just get her to leave socks alone. LOL
