My Dad has reduced his gas usage by about 30% by installing a hydrogen system in his car.  Its made of mason jars, hoses and copper coils... no kidding!  The water makes hydrogen gas which goes from a tube to the air intake and fools the sensors into thinking its burning the fuel mixture it needs  when actually he has thinned out the fuel mixture and is burning more hydrogen.  The instructions are available on the internet... he and my uncle when in together and bought the e-manual ($100)

We thought about doing it but both of our vehicles are under warranty and we didnt want to jeopardize that by jacking with the components.

Just and FYI for yall.  If there is interest I will get the site address from my dad - but you could probably Google it too.

Earlier this evening I talked with someone from London, England. She said our gas prices sound like a bargain to her. She said in the UK they are paying about $10.00 per gallon!!! YIKES!!!

I know that last week when I had to drive to Wilmington TWICE in one week to see my Grandma who was DYING, it cost me over $200.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How sad is it that, not only do I have to be saddened over losing the most important lady in the world to me, but I have to figure out HOW in the world to pay for the GAS to go see her so that I could say my final goodbye????????????????? I mean we did it, because, I didn't care if I had to take out a second mortgage, but WHY should it be that bad??????????????

I thank GOD that Kevin and I now work for the same place....we carpool and take the kids to school (thankfully it's right on the way!!) This week has been tough b/c my babysitter has been out of town and we've had to make the trip for home to school to work.....back to school...to home...to work...back home....and NEVERMIND baseball games and pratice across town!!!

There is NO reason other than GREED that gas prices should be this high!!! (I know that other countries pay more, but look at how much the american $ is worth in those countries too, and it all comes out to be close to the same!!)

Brandy, I am SO sorry about your Grandma. Please accept my sincerest condolences.

Yeah, that sucks that you had to pay so much to go and see your Grandma.

They literally have us over a barrel (OIL barrel, that is) in this situation! I am sooo glad that I live within a couple of miles of where I work. My brother works here too, but he lives 26 miles away. With both him and his wife working, they spend $500.00 a month on gas!

$4.60 a gallon here in Seattle---but I drive a diesel.  Mid-range gasoline is about $3.70 a gallon.

I filled up last night and spent about $61-I had tears in my eyes as I drove off.

In addition, most other Western nations are smaller and/or have better public transportation. Every time we have European visitors over they are amazed at the space we have and take for granted in this nation.

high gas prices are hurting us here too.....   in this little town with one flashing light, at one gas station it's 3.84 and the other is at 3.94   and this town is between 2 bigger town which is approx. 15 - 20 mins away.  I will be driving to Lima today, and I'll let you know what they are priced at....   either they have a real good deal going on or it shot up.

But we are going to cancel our dish network real soon....  and my car is almost paid off, just a couple of more months.... but still!!

oh and we have been buying food thru the angel food ministries....   which is you can get a box of food worth 60 dollars but you pay 30.00   I know it's not all over the united state but if you are interested....to see if there's one in your area....   go to  http://www.angelfoodministries.com/

Mardi,

Our church participates in the Angel Food Ministry.  I usually get a menu for my MIL and BIL who are in financial difficulty.  This month I got 2 menu's.  One for them and one for us.  It really does help out.  Thanks for posting the site.

I have a diesel too. I started to compare with our gas cars, and even though the price of diesel is almost a buck more than regular per gallon, it still costs about a nickel a mile less to drive the diesel. The price of diesel, however, is what indicates to me that somebody is screwing with us, diesel requires less refining than regular (you shoulda heard the argument I had with a Prius owner) and should cost less per gallon than regular - instead it costs more than premium.

I think the 4.20 for regular has been the most so far. The prices in the city are always ridiculously expensive.
