Today was a very difficult day.  Our siberian husky had a mini stroke and it was time to let him go.  He was a rescue and had a great life right up to the end.  It is sooooooooooooooooo sorrowful as we feel as though part of our life went with him.

Very very sorry for your loss. I'm sure your dog knew his care was always best in your hands. May he meet many friends at the rainbow bridge. Not sure if you have seen or heard of the Rainbow Bridge....if not, google it and it will bring this lovely poem right up for you....very comforting. God bless.

Thank you for suggesting the poem as it was very comforting.  We have had very heavy rains in our area and my miniature horse also colliced and almost did not make it last week.  This just seems to be one of those seasons in life.  Little Radar is such a wonderful addition to our family and is such great comfort to watch him grow and have him constantly wanting to be with us on our laps.  Rat Terriers are just great and so funny.  There is always new furry friends and then we loose some of our old ones.

Many thanks for your caring comments.  He was such a yapper it is very quiet without him here to remind me that breakfast must be served.  Radar learned that habit from him.  I have two other huskies that are two and three; however, they are all so individual.

I have a picture of all our wise old dogs gathered together, up there watching over the pups. Probably chuckling at the young'uns antics and how they vex us.
It is hard to loose a pet at any age, but when one has one for 16 - 17 years, it is hard to look back to the time before he/she joined us. It is indeed feeling that part of our life is gone, and it truly is. We have moved on and have two new dogs, they are not replacements, but additions to our ongoing lives. That is how it should be.
I still miss Dumb Dawg, gone 25 years, and Barkley - last year. I guess that says a lot about their place in our family. That is as it should be.

So sorry to hear this. Many of us have been through the same experience so I can honestly say that I can feel your pain.

I found some of the resources on the web to be helpful. The Rainbow Bridge website, whether you believe in it or not, was a nice site to connect in chat with others who recently lost their companion. It helped to share stories and know someone else was feeling exactly what I was feeling when I lost two of my furbabies in 2009.

I believe there are many of us who can SO relate to the emotions you are experiencing. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Sounds like he had a long, happy life which ended with those around him who cared. Lots to be said for that. *hugs*

Very sorry to hear of your old boy's passing.  Even with other sounds around there is a certain quiet to it all.  I've come to believe their spirits go to a place where we can be together again when we leave our earthly bonds.  We're the one's that have to wait, time has no meaning where they are now, they aren't waiting for us.

Thanks again so very much for all of your comments.  They are very sweet and full of care.  It seems as though Baily is still here with us.  I do not know why.  I guess we are so use to his presence that we can not adjust to him not being here.  hummmmmmmmmmmmm
