Aw, thanks guys!  I'll post it here a little bigger, you can see it better this way   It just came out so small in the avatar...

The hardest part was I couldn't remember whether it was hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil... or see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil!!  I got the idea for it when Mic heard how Brandy pulled the muscle in her neck... Innocent Mic had to cover his ears!

Okay, that is so cute. If you had not asked I could have told you, but now I'm confused. I went to buy horse feed today and got totally confused as to which was which - 10% or 12% regular, 12% or 10% Lite. Am I getting old or something?

Hey KIMROSE,

Not sure if you mean training certs or the official test you take through Adobe Systems?  I took evening courses through the local community college (50 hrs).  They used to offer the official Adobe cert but you can now only get them online through a test page for $150, I think.  The AutoCAD training was much more intense (400 hrs).  I had to step down to part-time at my current job to go 9-3:30, five days a week.  Well worth it, though.  Since both programs are so redundent, you learn a bunch of ways to do a certain thing, some better for certain things.  Good luck!!

Best regards,

Michael

wow! thanks! $150 and online? I can handle that! Right now I'm just taking classes part-time at the community college. I haven't looked into the certs much yet... don't know what I'm waiting for, but that's probably the way I want to go. AutoCAD, I think I'm going to go look that up and see what I can find out. I want to gain as much knowledge so that I can say I am proficient in all of the more popular graphic programs, I just figured the certs were a good way to show that... Since I'm not going to be getting a bachelor's degree anytime soon...

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate it, I need all the tips I can get!

No problem.  What field are you interested in graphics?  If you narrow it down to a specific discepline it's easier to focus on a specific program to start.  AutoCAD is an industry standard for 2-D/3-D drafting (Architectural, Engineering, CNC machining...) and nice 3-D rendering.  AutoCAD is further complimented by "Desktops" to specialize in fields such as architecture, surveying, electrical, etc...  Solidworks is more geared towards the high-end 3-D work of parts and such.  3DS MAX  is a high-end 3-D animation program.

not drafting, more design... like I've made ads, websites, banners , photo restoration, manipulation, logos, things like that...

Ah, got ya.  I'm more of the drafting/design/3-D modeling type.  Along with Photoshop, I use Illustrator and Corel Painter.  Great programs, too.

Old skewl or Yosemite Sam!!  My Grandparents said "pritnear" alot.  "Pritnear noon"... "Pritnear time for lunch"...  "Pritnear bedtime".

Yeah, Illustrator is a great program.  I got suckered in to doing some little leauge signs for my brother-in-law back in Spring.  Did about 15 of them.  Took whatever buisness cards/drawings they gave me and fashioned a final layout in Illustrator.  Traced the prints with a projector and painted them up.  After about the twelfth sign, I learned a neighbor does signs for a living and has a vinyl plotter.  Illustrator and Corel Draw both interface with it...  Might have saved me a bundle of time with the hand painting.

Cool, Michael!  That's what I do at my job!  In fact, I've used AutoCad for about 12 years, and have had some intensive O-T-J  training in the past 6 months in ESRI ArcMAp stuff, and am doing ArcEditing now.  I love my job---I just hate when the geeks come in to take over and change everything around!

Paul,

Right back at you!!  I've only read about some of the GIS software and ESRI puts out some interesting stuff.  So you're in the surveying field?  I actually wanted to be an architect since grade school.  Got through some college/internship after hs but gave up discouraged.  17 years later and the spark sets in yet again.  I still like architecture and structural stuff.  My dad is a marine engineer in VA and I got to spend some time there with their Cad guy in early summer.  Not sure where I want to take it, still waiting for the right job to come along.  I look forward to talking "shop" with you!.

Best regards,

Michael
