Bindi had two little males but both were born breech and died soon after birth.  We buried them out by the garden were the other animals are buried.  It was her second time giving birth she did well.  They were really small looked fully formed but bery small.

It proves that I could never be a farmer. It was the first animal birth that I've seen. I wish it would have been happier.

Aw, that's so sad, Tabitha that they didn't make it.  I was never what you'd call a "farmer", but I did live on 6 acres and had a LOT of animals for a long long time---everything from chickens to horses, and no matter how many animal births you witness or even help in the delivery of, it's still sad when one doesnt make it, you know?

I agree Paul - I've been at many births but it's still bad when a baby doesn't make it.

She seems fine today. She's up and walking around. She's alot friendlier today. But I know she's still looking for her babies. When I went into the barn she went to the spot that she had them and looked at me and made a noise. I nelt down and explained to her that they didn't make it. And that I was so sorry. She let me hug her for almost a minute. I feel so sad for her.

I am a farmer and I have to tell you that does not happen all that often with goats. Most goats have nice healthy babies just fine. But there can be alot of reasons for them not to.. Do you have a goat book to tell you what kind of plants can make them lose their babies or some of the reasons why? There are some kinds of plants and several kinds of sicknesses that don't make the goat look or act sick but they cause the babies to be born dead. There are many different goat manuels on the market that can help you with all the information you need and half that you don't want to know about. Your library might have one too.

Forgot... being born breach is OK for goats, it should not have been a problem. I am sorry you lost the kids too. Kids are so cute and so rascally.

They are in a fenced in area and the only weeds they got were poison ivy. I've cut some tree limbs down and they ate the leaves but none were oak.
