i agree with you Nibbler's Mom! I hate when people discriminate all against one breed, no dog is the exact replica of another of its breed! Its like saying all pits are mean! I have only had one chow( and one pit for that matter) but she wasn't mean, nor agressive! She might have been a bit territorial( but, hey, I have a RT, that is too!)but she was a well behaved, socialized dog!

Like on some rent houses I know of, you can't have a pit or rottweiler because mostly of all the bad stuff you hear about them! Any dog can be mean, if you make it mean, is what I think. Its how people treat the dog that makes the dog nice or mean.

i love medical history too! Yeah, borzoi and the russian wolfhound are the one and same, though most common name of course is the Russian wolfhound. I know a person( she works up at the animal shelter) who has a whipet, though I don't know muchh bout them other then that they are in the sight hound group and somehow related to the grehound lol. Did you hear of that story of a russian man(might have been a prince or noble) who came upon his beloved russian wolfhound over the body of his dead baby? In anger the man killed the dog only to discover after his death, a body of a dead wolf! I belive its a picture book..

have you heard of the saarloos wolfhund? The breed was created by Leendert Saarloos, in the Netherlands in the 1900s. He done so because he noted that contemporary dogs had become weekened with hip dysplasia and similar conditions. He resolved to rectify the situation and created this breed by crossing a German Shepherd Dog back to a wolf. The breed is unmistabably similar to a wolf in appearance! So beautiful!

Yes! I recently read the story of the man who killed the wolfhound mistakenly thinking it had killed his baby, how horrible!

Have not heard of the saarloos wolfhund but will google that.  That's very cool because the bad thing about wolfhounds is that they don't live long at all.  My hubby had a wolf hybrid at one time, he found her abandoned as a pup, she was very different than regular dogs but he loved her.

I want a saarloos wolfhund but at the moment, can't have one. Even if I could have one, I have no idea on where to get one! Ukci( universal kennel club international) does have registered Wolf hybrids! My state though, don't regulate them, I believe, though there ARE some people with wolves in mystate and some breed them with German Shepheds and other breeds....
