Well, it seems that my daughter and her husband will be moving in with us by the end of the month.  Sometimes things just happen.  She's lost her job, and is facing knee surgery, so in order to make ends meet, this is where they will live for about a year.(I hope)  My daughter has a Black American Pug.  "Smooshy Faced Fat Dog" is his name. Smoosh for short.  He used to live here before she got married and even afterwards for a time, but he's been with her out of our home for almost a year.  In that time, he has become infested with fleas from ferral cats that are everywhere in her neighborhood.  He is allergic to fleas so his skin is a mess.  I've made an appt with the vet for him to get a flea "pill" and dip on Friday.  Afterwards he will come here and not go back to get reinfected.  They will move in by the end of the month.

Amos hasn't met Smoosh.  He's a good natured dog and I'm hoping that they get along well.  Smoosh is about 5 years old, so may not be interested in puppy shenanigans, but he plays with their house cat all the time.

Wish us luck.  I will snap some pictures by next weekend and post how they get along.  Until then, here are 2 pictures of Smoosh from about 2 years ago.

Smoosh is so CUTE!  My friend, Will, has a black pug named Winston and he looks exactly like Smoosh--except Winston is a little chubbier!  Sweet dog!  Amos will LOVE having someone to play with!

Do you realize how cute Smoosh is? Try to convince your daughter that Smoosh went on a vacation. I'll arrange a meeting point, sneak him off to Pittsburgh and no one will ever have to know...shhh...it's the ninja in me talking

LoL!  Are you offering to rehome Smoosh for me!  That would be great but I think my daughter would be quite upset when she moved in and found no Smoosh.  Heck, she's had him longer than her husband.  Do you want him?  I might get away with his rehome before rehoming the dog.

Smoosh is a really good dog, but very stubborn, which is characteristic of the breed.  And he will eat ANYTHING!

Ya'll keep us in your prayers as we go through this transition.  I don't mind them living with us.  We are all pretty close and though there will always be problems we are the type of family that can work through most anything.  The worst part is the "moving"!  I would just about rather do ANYTHING in the world than help move, or move myself.

I am glad that you are welcoming them into your home willingly. I know that not all parents, mine included could and would do that. Mine are more of the "you made your bed, now sleep in it" mentality.

Maybe think of it as more people for dog walking duty?

You are incredible. Only a truly loving parent would take in their adult child AND their spouse. I feel so blessed to know that if I ever needed to go home, for any reason at all, my mother would not only open the doors, but help me get packed. I'm sure your daughter and SIL are very appreciative.  *Kisses to you for being a great mom!*

Well, all is well at the Page house hold.  Smoosh spent the day at the vets office and came home tonight around 6:30pm.  He and Amos hit it off right away.  Smoosh is an older dog, but not aggressive in the least and has allowed Amos to "get to know him", like most dogs do.  There has not been one growl or snap since he got here.  The only problem is that Amos is sooo hyper, he is tiring Smoosh out.  Amos had played and played and played.  He keeps jumping over Smoosh like he is playing leap frog.  Smoosh is so tired that he has had to climb into my lap for some relief.(He weighs 23lbs! So, I've got a big ol lap full of dog.)

Smoosh is in pretty bad shape.  He has a bad skin infection from all the flea bites, and his hair has fallen out really bad.  He even has sore on his muzzle.  He'll be on antibiotics and prednisone for 10 days.  He has also lost weight.  That's alright though, I'll fatten him back up in no time flat.(that is if Amos doesn't worry him to death!)

That is great that they are getting along. Smoosh must be one friendly fellow. He sure is a black black.
You never know how they will get along until they are actually together.
