And my Rat Terriers name is Trixie. Trixie came from Petland 4yrs ago, before I knew about "puppy mills". When she ended up with major problems with her patellas luxating (and $3000 worth of surgical corrections), I did some investigating. I was not thrilled at what I found - and neither should any of you.
My message is simple - but, please - don't kill the messenger. I am posting this as a public service to the rest of the members who might want insight into the controversy concerning Petland. If you still choose to patronize them, of course that is your business - which is why I did NOT respond to that original thread, where the poster was excited that she got to go to Petland. If you feel a pang of guilt, then maybe you should look within, rather than lashing out at those who choose to inform you of mere fact.

Joy, to correct on something, I was not excited to go Petland! I was excited that I could buy the food of my choice at a nearby store.
I think it's great that you want to get the word out about puppy mills - we all know about them and they're horrible. Just please don't make every thing you post into an argument, you'll find you'll get through to more people that way. |

Welcome Joy. I would love to see pictures of Trixie! Jack has luxating patellas too, only stage one. Very common with small breeds. Sorry to hear she had to have surgery. Hope she's better |

Mary Beth - I do not need to be corrected. I saw a thread that read "Yeeeee Hawww!!! Went to Petland this afternoon!". That spells excitement in my urban dictionary. Secondly, I have not started any arguements. I did however agree with two other posters who see things as I do - which I gather from the strong reaction, isn't popular opinion - and therefore not welcome.

| I am sure we all agree 'puppy mills' are a bad situation. Unfortunatly they are there. You have your pup, and no doubt love her, regardless of her origins. Now that you are informed, you won't buy a dog like that again, right? What is to happen to all of these pups? Until puppy mills are outlawed, as they should be, ALL of these dogs need homes. What to do? Boycotting stores that sell these pups is nice in thought, but won't stop the problem. All potential pet buyers need to be informed about where their pups may be coming from. Then and only then will puppy mills go away. Legislature and laws need to be made to stop this type of breeding. JMO. Petland and other places that have these pups are not to blame. The pet buying public is to blame. Adopt before you shop, or buy from a reputible breeder. Then these puppy mills will stop mass producing these poor babies. |

OMG, Girl!!! If you haven't tried it yet, you really have too!!! If forget the brand...I really don't pay attn. to that...but it is cherry flavored vodka...mix it with pepsi/coke and it tastes almost just like a cherry coke!!! It can really get you into trouble b/c it is mild tasting, so you might have just one too many if you aren't careful!!!
I really do wish he'd hurry up...I don't know what's keeping him..we left the office at the same time...5:45..I'll bet he's buying fishing stuff for his fishing trip tommorow.....doesn'the KNOW what the priorities are?????????????
