Skipper and Mayfly were playing on the bed just now.  I walked in with his harness to get him ready for a walk.  When he saw the harness he tried to get away!  He usually wants to go for a walk and comes right to me when he sees it.  He was running around on the bed trying to avoid me, then jumped down and I cornered him...he did his crouch thing (crouches and goes perfectly frozen).

The harness fits him, not hurting him anywhere and he hasn't had any bad experiences on the walks.  I did find a sock of mine in the living room after this...maybe he stole it and thought he was in trouble?  Sometimes he acts as if he expects to be hit when he comes to me after being called, too....and flinches if I reach to pet him quickly.

is it possible he could have still been in play mode? Because Mic plays keep away like that sometimes and then when I can catch him he plops right on his back. Or maybe it was the sock and he was feeling guilty, he might have thought something bad was going to happen because of his past... poor guy.

Jack does that too for some reason. If he gets a hold of something that he should have, even if I don't catch him, he acts all guilty and cowers. No real reason for it, it's kinda silly, like he doesn't want you to be mad at him! Maybe he just wanted to play and didn't want you to find the sock : )

Probably past history MB. He will soon figure out that you are a loving mommy! I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Well, I spent some time reassuring him. It's not a big deal, he's bound to have some issues, but he's a sweet little guy for sure!

AW, you're a good mommy. Who can really know for sure? You love him and I'm sure he knows that.

Awww, MB. He'll adjust. Yeah, probably a 'past' issue. In time he'll know how much you love him. Sometimes when I get Apollo's harness and walk toward him he plays "catch me if you can!"

I have to agree- it's probably a past issue.  Living with you, he'll soon forget the bad stuff.

Aww, MB Cookie acts the exact same way sometimes. But she knows how much I love her. And Skipper does too, I promise.
