The Hill Country is in very bad shape from all of the rain we have had. Marble Falls, where my grandmother lives, has had overf 18 inches since midnight. She's ok, but so many roads are flooded out that my parents or her caregiver can't get to her. The National Guard has been called in, and everyone is being advised not to leave their houses today. People are stranded on their roofs.
Lake Travis (which is by my house) is rising a foot an hour. Town Lake and Lake Austin are closed. All of the dams have had to be opened up.
We are stuck with this rain system above us.....it's not supposed to let up until Monday. The ground and lakes cannot handle it. |

| Please be safe Nat. This sounds like it did here in '99 when hurricane Floyd dropped massive amounts of rain on us in a short time. We lost many people and many homes! (mine included). I will be praying for you. And PLEASE if the Nat'l guard says leave........LEAVE!!! |

| No my area is ok, and my grandmother is ok...she lives at one of the highest elevations in Marble Falls. It's mainly the Hill Country to the West and North of Austin that's in dire shape. Not sure of the death toll yet...just woke up and am now watching the news...but it's pretty bad. |

| We're pretty bad up here in the Dallas area too. Lots of roads are under water. A 13 year old boy was drowned in the floods in Garland yesterday evening. Another mobile home park has been swept away. |

| Last year we were praying for rain out here, and now we have people dying every week from flooding. I had no idea it was bad in Marble Falls too, i guess i need to check on my co-workers down there for the week. i see on the radar there is another system headed that way. Dallas is okay at the moment, but there is supposed to be continual rain the entire week. it rained nonstop yesterday from the afternoon thru this morning and when we woke up this morning all the streets were flooded. so sad about that 13 yr old boy that drowned - he was moments from being saved and slipped tyring to catch the safety rope and the current took him. Keep safe!! |

It is amazing how different weather can be from one area to the next. It is dry as a bone here. Be safe and I hope someone can get to your grandmother soon!
Brandy... You must be close by. I am east of Raleigh and never saw so much rain when Floyd come through! Schools were shut down for a week in my county and we didn't even have the worst flooding in the area. Hopefully this hurricane season will be calm for this area again this year! |

Nat, stay safe! My Dad is out in Lakeway, so I guess y'all are sort of neighbors. He was talking about all the rain last night, but things seems to be okay where he is. San Antonio is/has also been getting buckets dumped on it, from what I hear.
Remember everybody, take those low water crossing warnings seriously! It doesn't take much water at all to sweep a car away.

| Wow! The amounts of rainfall out there are just amazing. It's hard to comprehend 6 months of rain in just a few hours. I guess farmers there are in just as bad shape as they are here, only for opposite reasons. |
