As a dear friend once said of the weather, "It's hotter than two rats makin' it in a wool sock" out here in far west Texas!  At least it's not supposed to be quite so bad manana . . .

Oooooh---it's only 76* here right now.

Funny saying, though--I can honestly say I've never heard that one before!

Since the phrase has been a hit, I discovered the ultimate source.  My friend heard it at an Esther's Follies (http://www.esthersfollies.com/performance ) performance in Austin in the mid-eighties.   The performers at Esther's are also the source of the following joke:

Q:  What's the difference between Dallas and yogurt?

A:  Yogurt has an active culture.

(Disclaimer:  I grew up in Dallas, which allows me to poke fun at Big D.)

Btw, it's merely 101 degrees outside right now (nearly 9 p.m. Mountain Time).   We'll be serving sidewalk-fried eggs shortly for them as wants 'em.

It's been raining for the past 2 or 3 months in Big D, and the few times that it isn't raining it has still been very humid. Those of us with curly hair have looked like Bozo the Clown or Napoleon Dynamite and those people with straight hair are complaining that it is limp and has no body.

I sympathize re the high humidity.  Although I miss the relative green-ness of the rest of the state, at least the desert is dry.  The low humidity out here generally makes for good hair days.  Send some rain our way, though, when you get a chance!  I can do without good hair if it means I don't have to water the lawn . . .
