For a dog who will indiscriminately ingest non-food items, Jubal is picky about eating anything that's good for him -- especially his duck and potato kibble. If I drizzle a spoonful of buttermilk on top he usually eats it right up.

Triplets have no food preference what so ever, even poop is on their list of things that will get eaten (mainly in the winter-poopsicles).

However...Sally is my trouble dog. She will turn her nose up at everything, and OMG try and change it on her, that will be two days of food refusal. She will only eat Wellness Chicken or Turkey formula, BUT it must be mixed with baby food (6month formula only) and it must be mixed with the right ratio and include some water. Once I put to much water in the mix--refused to eat it, once I changed to beef-refused to eat it (I have many cans of unopened dog food), I have thrown out many cans of dogs food too. I even tried the cheaper chicken canned, nope...I was punished by two days of not eating. The food once mixed, must be microwaved for 28 second, stirred again, and the top must not be smoothed down, it must be slighly spiky (similar to a lemon meringue pie). While most reading this will think, come on Layla that is you making it a production, after 5 months, hours spent coaxing her to eat, including hand feeding, quiet room, with the others...this formula works like clockwork. I don't think anyone could have a more fussy eater!
However 1t 14, I'll allow her just shy of crazy ways.

Mostly no one here cares as long as they get to eat. Jackie, however, when having one of his spells like yesterday, will not eat. Not the favorite pill pockets or his favorite Charlee Bear liver treats, no food and sometimes barely any water. At that point nothing we try works, not cheese, ham, or bologna.

Layla, you slay me. And I thought I was bad with making gravy of canned food for their dry food... Sally should count herself lucky her Mama goes through all of that to get her to eat.

Hendryx has a discriminating palate! Or he is spoiled.  When Woody arrived he brought along a few cans of Merrick soft food.  We quickly learned he has a preference for fowl.  We learned that he most liked the Wing-a-ling formula (has a whole chicken wing plus sauce and other things), Smothered Comfort, has a chicken thigh, both of these actually smell good to me. While they say the bones are soft enough to eat, we always removed the bones before giving it to Woo. Their Turducken formula was his third favorite.  Now, he is happy with the Natural Balance soft food with some kibble.

Sally is still adjusting to her new home and pack, and she is older, we don't eat as much as we age.  I rarely want to eat anything before 10 AM.

Okay, you guys crack me up! We don't have fussy eaters, but Lacey is particular about the perceived freshness of her raw mix. I had to start mixing a double batch to mix varieties to aleve the either too loose or too hard stool when switching from a bone mix to a organ mix. So now, it's 5 lbs at a time to mix with Sojo's, pumpkin, egg, etc. I started by putting half in the plastic container, and sealing the other half with the food saver. Well, Miss Fussy Pants now has decided that she will only willingly eat up to day two without coaxing. Before, she would eat the mix at day 4 (and it's all refrigerated, not spoiled or anything). So yesterday, I made 7 little bags out of the small roll of foodsaver plastic, and will load up a single day ration for the two of them. Every day will now be a freshly opened raw mix. I guess in the scheme of things, not a huge imposition!
Dan, we used to have a collie that wouldn't eat bagels unless they had both a schmear and a slice of lox.

Hendryx reminds me of a cat.

My foster will anything remotely food-like so we have to be very careful. Her past mama said she ate a banana peel. Here she has eaten the paper napkin that once held fried chicken.

My Eddie will only eat cold or room temperature foods. He won't touch hot foods.

Daisey will eat anything you give her but not in a gluttonous way, in a i-trust-you-know-best way. She's my veggie dog.

Hendryx just knows what he likes and won't settle for less. It cracks me up that he is a cheese snob. I have this mental picture of him giving you a look and snorting when you try to present something that isn't up to his standards. LOL.......My ratties love cheese, not matter what kind. Jackson isn't crazy about it though. First dog I've had that wasn't a fiend for some cheese.
Tucker is my picky eater. He doesn't have a huge appetite to begin with, so that makes it more difficult. He does love his Fromm's grain free kibble though. We alternate between the Tunalini and Game Bird forumlas. None of them liked the beef formula. We mix in a spoonful of Weruva canned food. It is made in a human food grade plant, and it is real shredded meat in a gravy. Very low in fat, so it agrees with Jackson. So far they like all of the forumlas, but the beef seems to cause some tummy issues in all 3 of them, so we have discontinued it in the rotation. They adore the mackerel and that was what they got today. It is some of the best smelling canned food I've ever bought.

our animals aren't picky... even a dog that we briefly "inherited" decided to not be a picky eater when with his original owners, he refused to eat anything but canned... couple days after mom took off with the neighbors to help them move to another state, i get a call from her reminding me that he only eats canned and i had to tell her he hadn't asked for canned once.. i ended up having to lock him in the bathroom to get him to eat a can, and that was the only time he ate canned during the entire time we had him until his original owners decided they'd pay the pet fee where they moved to. the very same day he was back with them, he refused to eat anything but canned again :-P

Cash can be pretty picky. He has eaten Earthborn Holistic food since he was a puppy, first the puppy formula then the small breed but I decided to switch him to one of their grain free (all are corn free but some have brown rice in them) varieties. I bought the bison variety which he loved and a bag or two later I thought I'd switch it up for some variety and bought the lamb variety. Ohhhh no. He stuck his nose up at it, and when I tried mixing it in with the bison food so it would get eaten, he would just drop the lamb kibble all over the floor and eat the bison. So now we stick the bison formula! He is also a treat snob. The bank and a few drive thru coffee places locally give him dog biscuits when we go through, he takes it in his mouth and promptly deposits it on the floor of the backseat. Now if we go to the burger king on the other hand, that girl gives him a little dish of soft serve vanilla ice cream, that he eats!

Yes, Hendryx does like ice cream. We haven't gone to Baskin Robbins at all this summer because the only one of us not on a diet is Hendryx. Last year, however, he discovered that he loves a spoonful of vanilla or coffee ice cream. He also goes nuts for Cherry Garcia.

Spoiled? Spoiled? Our dog SPOILED? Nah. We don't spoil our dog. You could never say that our dog is spoiled. Wait. I can't keep typing. Hendryx is demanding that I give him a chicken breast RIGHT NOW or he'll hold his breath until he turns into a dachshund. Gotta go.

Nope no picky eaters here. Just yesterday I caught my moms dog (who lives with her and not my pack) dig up a nasty chicken leg show it to my dad and brother take it to the middle of the yard and wait for it to bake in the sun for a few minutes then chomp it down. Food usually does not last long enough in my yard to age because if one dog does not eat it someone else may just think it is theirs. I have caught a few pulling something aged out of somewhere but not often. Some do not really love fish meals and will wait a few moments to see if anything else will be offered but they will eat it because Ivy really loves fish and will gather 5 fish into "her" pile till I divide it up again.

So, Dan, me being a Philly area girl by birth, I have to know...does Hendryx like scrapple?

So, Dan, me being a Philly area girl by birth, I have to know...does Hendryx like scrapple?

I don't know. Reeva won't allow scrapple in the house. Until the diets, we kept a kind of kosher house so that my MIL would visit and eat here (she got crazy religious for a while). Then my MIL got Alzheimers and developed a passion for shrimp. Man plans, God laughs. After my MIL passed away, Reeva went on a diet that included some sea food; I (who was not brought up kosher) found myself juggling two sets of dishes and a lot of paper plates. I put my foot down, got rid of one set, and went on my own diet (Atkins). Atkins doesn't actually allow scrapple, so we still won't see if Hendryx likes the stuff or not. He is mad for most sausage, however, so I'd be surprised if he didn't like scrapple. The only meat he doesn't like is lamb.

Hendryx and I would make fine dining partners! I detest even the smell of lamb (yes lamb, not just mutton), and I do favor Cherry Garcia. If you weren't so far away I could dog sit.

Hargan pretty much eats everything we give him....even vegetables! He can be a treat snob though....my husband thought he was giving Hargan a treat by buying him Dog biscuits. Was in for a surprise...he takes them then hides them. We uncovered a pile the last time I was home.
Cheese though is another story. He will gobble it right down...any type....guess he needs to get with Hendryx so he can show Hargan what cheese he should eat....lol
