DISCLAIMER:  The events described below really happened, but the ad thing is just a joke.

Anyone interested in a gifted but slightly used eight-year-old boy?  I was trying to finish up my roll of film so I could post a photo or two of Wolf.  I decided the cat would be a good subject.  I got a great shot of the cat by the microwave.  Then I looked down, and in the dog/cat water bowl was the biggest sewer roach I have ever seen in my life!  Sewer roaches are something just about everyone who lives in the Valley deals with at one time or another.  But, I'm one of those sissies that freaks.

I backed up as fast as I could and asked my Charles (at the top of my lungs) what was in the water bowl.  The boy was THRILLED beyond belief.  He picked up the bowl and started coming toward me.  He stopped a few feet away and sloshed the bowl a bit.  I yelped.  He then took it outside and spilled the offensive creature onto the patio to examine it.  When he saw me watching, he picked it up by a leg and acted like he was coming back into the house.  He finally flung it far away from the house.  Now, everytime he comes up behind me, I'm afraid he's going have some creepy crawling ready to dump on me.

So, I have a boy for free.  He likes to help cook and will dust and mop and clean the bathroom.  He does not, however, clean his room.  He's got a great sense of humor.  Big eater.

I washed the bowl out  with lots of soap and hot water.  Do you think it's safe for the pets to drink out of?

Ha ha ha...I'm so afraid you won't get any takers on this one J/K. I have kids and know how you feel.

My daughter isn't afraid of anything, and during the locust year took great delight in chasing me with one. (( shivers )) I hate locusts, and June bugs really freak me out cuz they're so loud and big and "crunchy". They're terrible here this time of year.

Nope, don't want/need your kid!!  I live in Florida, bugs do not scare me. Any kind! Get a cat. Cats love to chase/kill bugs. I have four personal exterminators!

To funny! Think the pet bowls are fine.  When can I arrange pick-up?

When we had sewer roaches the first time, like 10 years ago, my two cats would chase/kill them. Unfortunately, Rusty, the one I lost in March used to bring them to me as a gift. I can still see him with an 9-inch one wriggling in his mouth as the cat came trotting toward me, proud as anything. I was out of my wheelchair so getting out of his path wasn't an option I was frozen in fear, yelling, "no, kitty, no!" Luckily my husband intercepted Roo and thanked him for the gift. It's funny now. The 20-year-old cat still wtih us is too busy slapping Wolf most of the time to notice a bug.

I remember those kid & bug days! My son is 27 now... and he did the bugs when he was 8... but he sure didn't do any cleaning! I think there is hope for finding this kid a home with his cleaning skills!

I went to feed our dogs tonight and found an ant family (tiny ants) were still enjoying Holly's food that was left in her dish from this morning...  not sure when they decided to move in.... and I don't like bugs either!

We periodically get plagues of grasshoppers down here. Tip: don't try to vacuum up the dead ones...they reek to high Heaven! I also freak at June bugs because they stick in your hair and won't let go. I make my 17 year old son get rid of the geckos that come into the house. I figure with three males in the house, I shouldn't have to ever touch a bug or other rodent or pest.
