We are home now with my Fathers Day Present! She has tore herself up pretty good, but we plan on lots of attention and TLC to overcome the plucking issue! I think the flash made her blink!

That bird is pretty, even "plucked"---she looks so shy. I'm sure you'll have her feeling confident and all feathered out in no time, Gary! |

GARY!! She's beautiful...glad she has your family for her forever home.
But why is she named Blue? She's a girl....and is green!
The breed of Macaw she is, is named the Blue & Gold Macaw. While appearing green in certain light, they are actually more dominate in blue color. She was already named Blue and we have decided to call her Blue Belle!!

We will not try to handle her for at least a few days. I want as little stress on her as possible. She is talking away & eating out of our hands so I think she will adapt fine! I try to watch for her digging and get on her when she does. |

She is 4 and says Hello & Whats Up so far that we know of. She mumbles a few other things, but have not caught enough to really know what it is. She also gently takes food from our fingers. |

Do you feel anything you did in yours diet helped bring the feathers back out? They gave us a bag of Harrison Bird Food Pellets and she seems to love those. So far she also likes Crackers, Carrots, Peanuts, Crunchy Noodles. I am glad things turned out well for yours!

Jens dad has a Yellow Nate Parrot that is just now 50 years old. As for my dogs, it seems like Jackie could care less & Abbie is sitting there at the base of Blues cage just looking up at her like WTH R U??? Everytime Blue yells something abbies head cocks to the side in amazment! We will see what Yar & Nakita do over the next few days!

WHen I was little my parents had a blue and gold macaw. They are a lot of work, it is kind of like a two yr old that never grows up. She must have been pretty stressed/bored to pull out her feather like that. Poor thing... Where did you get her? I am sure she is in good hands now. My dad used to get up every morning and make oatmeal for our bird. She loved it. She rarely ate seed, usually she just had the fruits and vegatables that we ate. |
