Introducing Ms. Bizzy Bailey....affectionately known as Bailey or "Hot Rod" as my husband calls her.  She was born April 9, 2007, in Rhineland, Texas, to "Keets" and "Bubbles of Groves."  She was welcomed into our family by her step-sister, Gilmore's Little Lucy Belle (our 3.5 pound Toy Fox Terrier). affectionately known as Lucy.

She is so precious and has quite the personality.  Oh, and did I mention stubborn?   If we make it through the puppy stage.  The first night we crated her and she cried and howled for a while but eventually fell asleep.  The second night all she did was cry, whine, howl and anything else she could think of so that someone would rescue her.  Well, at about 3:20 a.m., in the morning, after no sleep (husband was sawing logs)  I went and got her and put her in our bed (a big No-No) and she slept like an angel the rest of the night through.

The third night she runs into our bedroom and is jumping up and down trying to get in our bed!  Husband thinks its cute and proceeds to say, "Aahh...what the heck."  Big mistake!  Yes, she goes right to sleep after chewing on my husband.  At about 4:00 a.m., I have to get up to go to the bathroom and mind you I wasn't in there 2 minutes when I hear Bailey whining.  I go over to the bed and she has just peed on my brand new $300.00 comforter.    Needless to say husband and puppy were in deep doodoo.  Bailey now sleeps back in her crate and has been moved to the utility room so we can't hear her and husband has promised that he will not put her back in bed..."no matter what."

Uh-oh! I'd be upset too about the comforter, but it would be SO hard to resist that precious little face.

That stinks about the comforter.  Husbands are such push-overs when it comes to our ratties!!!!!

Welcome to you and Bailey.

Awww... Bailey is just a little doll!  Both of our dogs sleep in the bed with us now, but for almost the first 2 years after we adopted Holly, our Rat Terrier, she had to sleep in a crate at night. We tried her in the bed, and she wanted to be under the covers... but at the slightest noise she went into this wild frenzy and would bite anything (drawing blood) that was near her... usually me!  She finally did outgrow the biting part... and sleeps in the bed... but still growls up a storm when she hears anything out of the ordinary.

Sorry to hear Bailey has "blessed" your comforter... but this reminded me that I was going to post a few weeks ago (for anyone that might be interested... and just in case Bailey is ever invited to bed again! ) I got a really GREAT water-proof mattress cover a couple of weeks ago!
I was researching some info for someone that had a blind dog with other medical issues... and ran across a website for a dog that was paralyzed, and used a wheeled cart to get around. The owner was talking about putting him on her bed when she groomed him, and he has no bladder control. She had always had a problem finding a water-proof mattress pad that didn't make her sweat when she was sleeping, and that someone had told her about one called "Protect A Bed" that she just loved. The company website is: http://www.protectabed.com and has a way to look up stores in your area that sell them. I just happened to be thinking about a new water-proof mattress cover... so it was perfect timing! I'd purchased one when we bought a new mattress about 5 years ago. It didn't make us sweat, but it had these stupid elastic bands that were "suppose" to keep it "on" the mattress, but before I could even get my bottom sheet on the mattress, the mattress cover was off, and floating around.. which also made the bottom sheet pop off the mattress constantly  It was horrible... and the plastic part on the bottom was starting to crack.. and was probably not even water-proof anymore anyway.  I looked up stores that sold this mattress pad she was talking about that were local to me, and the only location was a huge mattress store chain. I figured it was also going to be BIG bucks there... so I did a search on e-bay and found someone selling them (queen size) for $32.95 +shipping!  I decided to order one, and I just LOVE it!! It's so thin and flexable (you'd never know it was water-proof)... and fits my deep mattress perfectly... and my sheets have stayed ON the bed for the first time in 5 years!!  Lucy our blind girl has had a few times where she's had a UTI and will have an potty accident in the bed.. so just want to make sure we're "covered" just in case... and what the heck... at the age hubby and I are now... who knows when we'll be starting to have potty accidents!!

Thanks for all the well wishes.  I'm sure Bailey won't be banned from the bed forever....just until she gets a little older and gets "potty" trained.  I know there will be accidents.  The comforter is no worse for wear - it made a quick trip to the dry cleaners the very next morning and was back the day after looking brand new.

The only thing I worry about is that with the new comforter came a new box springs and mattress and a new bedr.  Would you believe the top of the mattress is 33" (2' 9" from the floor!  Our little one is fearless!  Lucy used to sleep with us but since we got the new bed, no more.  We can't take the chance of her falling off the bed.  Lucy is real good about not jumping off anything high.  She will only jump if we have a pillow set down on the floor for her to jump from and will otherwise whimper until someone comes and gets her.  Now Bailey........she flys and never looks back.  So long story short.......we have to really be careful and both of us in bed to frame the puppy.
