Has anyone ever ordered prescription eye glasses on line?? We don't have vision insurance at work and I can't pay $600-$700 for new glasses. There is a place called 39dollarglasses.com that LOOKS ok... but... SOMEBODY HELP!

Morning, Pami!

I don't wear glasses or contacts so I don't know the answer.  My hubby had the lasik eye surgery so we don't deal with that anymore.  He did order his contacts online with his RX and they worked out just fine.

Miss you, girlie!!

WAAAHHH!!! I am at a total loss about what to do. Walmart was the cheapest place I've checked and for what I want/need it was going to be over $600.00... I can't wear contacts anymore with all the close constant computer work I do.. my eyes are too dry. Feels like I have potato chips poked in my eyes!!! OH WELL. I guess I could always duct tape the arm back on this pair when it finally falls off???

Mike got his last pair at the Wal-Mart vision center. They were reaonably priced.

What if you need them adjusted to fit your face? Just seems like one item I wouldn't want to order on line.

Just pick out cheaper frames, Pami. I couldn't afford the frames I really wanted so I had to settle for some cheaper ones that looked okay.

Some of the doctors that do lasik around here offer a payment plan, kind of like orthodontists do.

I know!  I was watching some makeover show and the woman got lasik surgery.  It reminded me of that movie, A Clockwork Orange.  My cousin just had it done and she said it wasn't that bad.  I think I would have to be drunk first.

I took my husband in when he had his surgery and I got to sit right with him and watch the whole thing.  I promise, they didn't use any staples!    It was kind of cool to watch and my husband said it was just very weird feeling.  They gave him some chill out pills before hand... they kicked in on the way home...  He was hysterical!  I'll have to tell you that story in private!!

My cousin said the most annoying part was putting drops in her eyes every 10 minutes for a few hours.

I only wear contacts and I buy them online. But my sister is going to be buying glasses online and they are her prescription... I'll have to find out the site, they are $25. She's just going to take them in to be adjusted at a store if they don't fit, that's the cheapest way she found to do it.

I would love to get that lasik surgery though! I am completely blind without my contacts. Seriously, I have to walk with my hands out in front of me and I still walk into eveything But... I'm a chicken. I'm so so scared, I've never had a surgery before (unless wisdom teeth count) and I am just freaked out! I even went as far as to get a consultation for lasik and they said I was a perfect candidate for the surgery... Never went through with it. I am willing to pay the payments for it, its just the thought of them slipping and me going blind. Or what if there is an earthquake during the surgery! I've come up with every scenario in my head just to freak myself out more. Someday maybe I'll be brave enough! I hope!!!

got the site! She said that you can buy them online, or you can get this card that they offer and bring it into a store (they list the stores available on their site) and get the frames for $25 and have them fit them for you. This card also gives you discounts on exams. I haven't looked into it yet, but my sister is thinking of trying this program out.

Looks like Kim has the solution to the problem here, Pami!   We have an optometry place here in town that will adjust glasses to fit, even if they dont come from them for a really small fee---like $5.00, and they will relpace screws and nosepad things free. You might check out some of the places around you to see if anyone does that.

Pami I love the avitar!! you two look so good

I would love to have lasix .... I can't see 3 feet in front of me without my glasses.... I wore contacts for years then got to where I couldn't anymore...

I am lucky cos my company has vision insurance... we have to wear safety glasses and they pay for them, if you pay a little extra you can get some decient frames...

Do you currently have frames you like? If so, they can just change the prescription in the frames...much cheaper.
