Just wondering if anyone here sews, and may know of a "super cheap" place online to order fabric to use for making bandanas for dogs? I buy fabric on sale, or with a coupon at JoAnn's Fabrics for my dog salon bandanas, because it is the only place local I know to buy fabric, since I don't sew. I've been doing volunteer grooming once a week at our local county shelter, and would really like to be able to put bandanas on all the dogs there, after they are bathed/groomed... but with 15-20 or more dogs per week there, I can't afford the fabric I normally buy at JoAnn's!
Any ideas??? |

What a nice idea for those pups. I dont know of any place for discounts but maybe the store would give you so if you told them what it was for? |

Check Walmart. They sometimes have fabric as low as $1 a yard in the roll end bins. |

I get mine at Wal-Mart in the $1 a yard section Depending on how big you need to make them, you can also get some great buys if you look in the scraps they've got for sale (1/2 the time they're hidden). |

| Make sure you check the clearance rack at Joann's I usually buy mine for my shop there and I get the stuff that is a 1$ a yard and then use the coupon. I also haunt the clearance rack every time I am at Walmart. I have been searching for a less expensive way to get the bandanas for my groom dogs too. |

Thank you all for the suggestions I should have mentioned that we don't have a very local Wal-Mart where I am. It's almost an hour drive one way, and I've heard from a lot of other groomers that many of the Wal-Mart's have closed their fabric sections. I might call and see if the Wal-Mart here does still have a fabric section. For some reason the JoAnn's Fabric store near me has never had anything suitable for bandanas in their clearance bins, it's always a lot of upholstery & drapery type fabrics, or really ugly flannel, polyester & knits. I'm sure I'm just hitting the bins after they're picked over.. I don't get over there very often. I might talk to the store manager and see if they might have any specials they could offer, since it's for the shelter. |

| Hit the REMNANT bin at any store that sells fabric: Joann's, Hobby Lobby, WalMart, KMart. Remnants are usually 1/3 to 1/2 the original price. Only thing is they are bolt ends and usually < one yard pieces. But usually dirt cheap! |

We do embroidery and printing, and we order our bandannas wholesale. Our supplier sells a triangle paisley bandannas in dozen packs for $6, with discounts for 10 or more dozen. You can mix the colors as long as they don't have to break a pack. www.tansclub.com They ship out of California. |

| My vet ties a bandana on Button and Zipper every time I board them or they have to stay overnight. They just buy the yardage and cut into triangles with pinking shears so they don't have to hem the edges. If you wanat them to be washable, you'd have to finish the edges. |
