Donna called me today and we chatted for a few minutes... she said the doctors are saying Josh could very well be in the hospital for a few more months. She's tired, of course... but has been given a room at the Ronald McDonald House, so goes there to sleep for short periods, shower, etc... but is still spending the bulk of the time with Josh. She said she thought there MIGHT be a slight improvement today. She said Remi is adorable, and her daughter has claimed him for herself. She sent me a picture of her daughter and Remi... cute picture but she messaged it to me on my cell phone from her cell phone, so I don't know how to capture it to post it here. She took family medical leave from her job... (not being paid while she's off though), but her husband is working and coming to the hospital on weekends.
I told her we were all remembering them in our prayers... she said to tell everyone hello. She truly did sound exhausted... |

OMG---a few more months??? Oh, gee, that poor kid....you know he's got to be tired of being there, and his mom---bless her heart. I feel so bad for them right now, going through all this. Thanks, Nora, for this recent update. We need to continue to pray for Josh, Donna, and the entire family. |

| She said she THINKS the spleen will ultimately have to be removed, but he's in no condition for surgery right now. He's still on dialysis, and they've drained 30 lbs of fluid from him (caused from the malfunctioning of the kidneys.... caused by the medication the doctors gave him... ) |

Deb, the Ronald McDonald House is an absolutely wonderful non-profit organization. The one in Nashville provides a wonderful service for families of children who are patients at any of the Nashville hospitals... not only do they provide lodging, but they also provide support for family members who are going through very trying times. Each RMH is a free standing, self-funded charitable entity that relies on financial support and volunteer staffing to perform their work. It truly is an awesome organization that provides a wonderful service. |

If you talk to her again - let her know she is in ALL of our prayers - poor thing. Do we know what hospital he is at? Maybe we could send cards? I don't know if someone has already thought of this and I missed it - might just be a little pick me up for Donna and her son. :-) |

| Each Ronald McDonald house can take donations for that particular house. It is a great charity, but the people staying there do pay a very low fee, and can cook their own meals. Sometimes meals are provided by volenteers too. I stayed at one for a month while my son had open heart surgery in Portland Or. We could have never afforded a motel for that long and the rest of the family could visit or stay with me as their schedules allowed. There are play places for kids that have to stay there too. It is a very family oriented sort of place. And for us it was the only way I could have stayed in Portland with my baby at the time. |

| MODS---could you/would you put a sticky at the top of the page with contact information for Donna and Josh? That way people who have to be MIA for a few days can easily get it. Also, that would be a place to post updates--not replies about Josh's condidtion, but one location where we know we can find out what's going on and it won't get buried behind other posts. Just a suggestion! |

| I can't imagine! I am praying for the family every day! The donations that have come in so far have been AWESOME. I won't post an amount on the board, but anyone that wants to know can pm me. I am not even counting the donations that are said to be on their way...just the paypal and the checks I have already received. God is so good and I think that he looks over this "doggy family" that we have here! You guys are truly angels!!!!!!! |

Richie, here is the original post with Josh's contact info..including where to email your letters. It was actually Tracie that posted it (sorry). Hope this helps!
Hey, everyone. As most of you know, our member Donna's son Josh has been in the hospital for quite a while now and it appears he may be there for a while longer
I'm posting the hospital's address here (with Donna's approval) for anyone that might like to send him a get well message.
Shands Children's Hospital at the University of Florida
P.O. Box 100335
1600 S.W. Archer Road
Gainesville, Florida 32608 (PO Box zip code is 32610)
(352) 265-0111
Also, the hospital's website has a place where online messages can be sent and then the hospital prints and delivers them to patients. That site can be found by clicking on the link below. His name is Josh Hodges ( I do not have the room # at this time). Make sure to click on the button for Shand's Children's Hospital (AGH) (Gainesville).
https://www.shands.org/public/message/default.asp
I, like everyone here, continue to pray that Josh is well enough to go home soon!!! |

Thanks so much for the update. Months?? That has to feel like years, especially since he is going through such a hard time. I've always saved pop/soda/beer can tabs and have become addicted enough that now family members also save them for me. MacDonalds has these little boxes for collecting, looks like a house, representing RMH. The tabs are dropped off at any MacDonalds and the proceeds go to Ronald MacDonalds houses. One tab counts as one can recycle weight. I'm glad Donna has that available to her. |
