I took the Rat Patrol to Flyball training Sunday and man am I sore! In the morning, Maggie and Kiddah did their turn training, then I practiced running another ladies dog for the Nationals since she cannot be there. This little bugger is a Jack Russell who cannot stand still. When he is not running in a straight line he's doing circles while waiting to run. Quite the little powerhouse! And I managed to trip over my own feet trying to lead him out of the jumps. I did a nice roll and landed on my feet. Thank-you martial arts training! But I strained my back a bit.
Maggie and Kiddah had the fall "It's too nice to follow directions" zoomies. They both went on a tour of the entire grounds while I tried to corral them. Although Kiddah did do some fast running on the jumps. Maggie just was not interested in the least in any part of flyball.
Then we got to the beginners class with Nitro. He growled at one dog and one person. But in all that's not too bad considering he's not been out and around too many strange dogs I don't think. The growl at the person came again while I was holding him so he got a correction and I put him down immediately. The people in the group were trying hard to befriend him. He got lots of treats from them. No more growling at people that day
Nitro also had a case of the Zoomies at the end of all his runs. So, we put a long line on him. He is doing exceptionally well at the jumps and has picked it up quicker than the other two ratties. He is also learning the box pretty quickly. He may be competing sooner than the other two ratties.
Oh, one thing Nitro did I was not especially happy with was that he pee'd on my foot! There I was sitting waiting for our turn and I feel something warm on my ankle and sure enough it was Nitro! It wasn't just a little marking squirt, it was a full pee! I guess I am his now That was pretty gross. My shoe was all squishy for the rest of the training. BLECH!
Anyhow after 3 hours of training we got home. I fed the Rat Patrol, took a shower and put my tennis shoes in the wash! The rest of the afternoon we napped (me with a heating pad on my back) the other 3 curled up on the couch around me. I guess the ratties were as beat as me! |
