First off i want to say hi to you all it's been a very long time and a very hard yr for me, but things have turned the corner and we are on the track bk to being happy again..i came here a while bk because my rattie Gunner was attacked and did not survive he was my very first rattie and once you get a rattie in your heart its vern hard to do anything but miss the rattie,  well i fell into a really hard and deep depression and just did not want to get out of bed or do anything.... our move took us 10 months this was going 8 months with a short sale that fell thru cause the plp who owned it went bk to India and would not sign the final papers so we lost that house and went out and found a new one and this one took 2 month and we moved in last monday whooorayy....but anyways back to my new friend....her one rattie who was a yr and a half would simply not give her any respect and my friend gave her endless amounts of food and not enough exercise... i was going over their about twice a week, and after a month she asked me if i would like to have honey her female rattie........well seeing how the dog was with her i was really hesitant. talked it oer with my hubby for about a week and i went and said this if you let me take her for a week just as a trial run , .(honey was in love with me and i loved her but things had to change) ya know to see how things go...... Well to make a long story short once honey came into my household and i demanded respect she is now a total dif dog and about 9 lbs lighter,   let me tell you she gave me a reason to get out of bed every morning and take a 2 mile walk every day since i have gotten her, i have had her for about 3 months now,  and have lost 50 lbs myself..  so its good all the way around for her and myself.....now two days after i got her gunner's replacement was born and i got to go and help in the birth, it was awesome. i was totally thrilled to see she had all females and one boy, well we all ready had claim on the boy, and  last thursday he came home to us and his name is Cowboy CB for short,  really hard is he must have been a gift from gunner since he also has a blk head and looks a lot like gunner, am thinking he will be smaller,  but now i have two ratties in my life and i am just as happy as can be, We have a new home to call our own and our household is complete with all the rattie love i need. both ratties fit in perfect with our other two dogs we are minus one hubby's daisy passed away aug 21st. but honey really helped us with the loss when i get my kitchen unpacked i will post some pics i have to upload them and i don't have but only one of honey but i have quite a few of Cowboy....i am so  blessed to 2 ratties bk in my life

i hope you all are doing great and ty for not taking me off the forum when i asked way bk when i was not in the right frame of mind and  really did not think i would be bk here again,  for that please accept my appoligies,  i promise not to fall off my rocker again

Welcome back Sandy. I am quite new here myself. My rattie is 10 months old. She's a sweetie, but stubborn when it comes to housetraining. She cracks me up daily though. I am sorry to hear you have had a rough year, though it sounds like many positives have come your way. You never know what life is going to throw you.

I have had a rough year as well. My husband and I separated a year ago Sept., my first pup ever died at 9 years old of liver cancer, my dad had a cardiac arrest last Nov. and survived, but with quite a bit of brain damage. My hubby and I reconcilled in Jan, but now are probably divorcing. I tried, just can't make someone love me if they don't want to. Through it all, I have actually remained strong and gotten stronger within myself. I feel okay with where I am at. Scared, but life perseveres...and of course, rattie love always helps. Oreo is my first rattie and I adore her. I love this site for great info and just chats. Take care.

yup but i have to say i changed my diet big time and the doc found out i had a thyroid prob and then he put me on some pills and it is just dropping off, since i got honey i walk religiously every morning, and i also goto the park every night to let the dogs run, park is only a half block away so i am very active, with this move plus the stairs help to lol...first 3 days after the move my legs was killing me, but i am happy and healthy and thats what counts now and of course my broken heart is mended and gunner will never be forgotten

welcome back! I'm so sorry you've had a hard time lately, but it sounds like with moving and the addition of 2 new ratties, the icky part is past. congrats on the weight-loss! 50 lbs in 2 months..wow! getting your thyroid problem under control was no doubt a HUGE factor in the weight-loss (and your mood too)...you were hypo (low thyroid levels), right? I'm glad you got that taken care of.

yes yes low very low close to none and it was also making my moods swing all over the rictor scales

it all happened at one time i could not take being so sad and depressed all the time and i went to see my doc and told him like everything and bald while doing it and he said lets get some blood work and see whats happening with you, so i am very happy and thankful i took that step and got this all taken care of i really feel like a new person, and with 2 ratties one on each side of me every night makes my cup runnith over

Hi! I don't think I was probably around when you were last here. I got my Sophie at the beginning of July. Glad to see you. I love how Honey and you both bounced back from where you were, together. It's a great story. Hope to see more of you.

Thank you all am glad to be back to normal and i feel much better to. these 2 new ratties enrich my days and nights so much more, it's really incredible how these dogs can make such an impact on your life. like right now i am sitting here with cowboy in my lap and honey is right at my feet these dogs are so loyal and loving it's funny how they can heal your heart and make you laugh each and every day, like today cowboy was so into the water dish all he wanted to do was lay in the big round dish and play in the water, i took him out of it i think 3 times and dried him off just so he could go right back into the dish, i am sure the other dogs was not to happy about it but it was funny cause he would throw his head and take off running right bk to the dish... he is such a bundle of joy...honey is having bone issues she wants them all and takes them all and tries to hide them from cowboy, i am finding them all over the place even in my bed..lol nothing like getting into bed and finding a rawhide under your pillow........lol
