I currently have 2 dogs...   most of my life since i moved out, i've always had 2 dogs...  Sometimes i feel so overwhelmed with 2 dogs and wished i had just one dog.  but then again i am glad that i have two.  then i feel bad for Kasey b/c Indy is alot of work that needs alot of correction and can be a nusiance at times.  So i asked myself "what did i get into!" lol

But i love them both dearly.  Indy is just a goof at times and Kasey is older and is almost perfect... and is more spoiled than Indy, meaning that he gets to sleep with me in bed... while Indy still sleeps in his crate.  Indy must sleep in his crate or he'll get into something that he shouldn't or have accidents, so i don't quite trust him yet.... but as long as i crate him, he's a perfect dog and is spoiled in other ways.

If you are content with just one dog... then leave it be...   If you would really like to have another, then when that right pup come along it will work out.  just don't rush it like i did.   sometimes i wished i would've waited....   another year or two... (such as after school and after the invitro) but what's done is done....

oh and it's easier to travel with just one dog, not two... if you have to take two, means you have to double pack stuff for the dogs...  two crates, beddings, toys, more food, etc...

and you would only have to worry about just one dog not two, to get shots, rabies, dog tag license...  and so on.   and you might be able to spend more money on one dog than two...   b/c you can spoil them more rotten!!!

Vinnie is a "one and only" dog and he prefers it that way. He is just fine!

We got Nib's in 03 and he was the only baby until 7/08 and then we got Ace and at first Nib was a meanie .  He was very possive of me, my husband the kids and generally anything else in the house.  However, now he is starting to come around and allow Ace to love on him and play with all toys even though I did what the vet said and bought new toys that had never been in the house.  They still have their moments, but all in all Nib has calmed down and he now has someone to romp around with.

We have two dogs but only one is a RT.  It's great to see them playing together, and Murphy (1 yr) keeps Daisy (8 yr) young.   We're happy with the two dogs in the family, but it is hard to see the dogs without homes and we want to take them all... more times than I would like to admit, Lynn is dragging me away from some pup that is up for adoption that I have gotten attached to.

How many dogs is right for you?  Only you can answer that, but additional dogs do complicate things and increase the expenses (feeding/shots/medical/boarding if/when you travel).   It's cool that you're thinking about this and not just jumping in.

I have only one dog....
I tried to adopt another Rattie from Ratbones and Sassy hated her and treated her badly.. so I had to surrender her back to Ratbones..
In retrospect, I'm glad I did, when we lost our house etc in the flood, theres no way Pumpkin would have survived the flood and damage in my basement, which is where Sassy and I were when the walls caved in...

The family that took us in after the flood had 2 dogs in the house, one male Cocker and a female Chi-doxie mix..
Sassy got along with them pretty well condidering what she had been thru...
She did have a fuss or two with the female at times but all in all it went very well.

Now we have a new home and I have considered trying again for another Rattie... Sassy is the Queen around here and I think she might get along better with a male...
She seems to miss the other dogs that we lived with for nearly 3 months...
But since I surrendered Pumpkin back to Ratbones, I can never adopt from them again...
so we will see what happens..

Bijou is such a good girl while I'm away.I think she must sleep most of the time cause her toys are usually in the same places when I return as they were when I left.

I wonder how much trouble she will find to get into if she has a buddy? Ya know, like with kids... what one don't think of the other will. LOL

That's my baby girl, Bijou! She's a Toy Rat Terrier.

Rattagan was my only dog for 10 years of his life. Only in the last year has he had other dogs. Its fine to have just one but they do need exercise and play time. I have 4 and one foster and they are just as content playng with each other or by themselves. Enjoy one for now if you're not sure and you will know when it is time to get another one.

I have only one dog... my Zoey! Everything has always been about "her" since she came home at 9 weeks old; and that was over 7 years ago! She's very protective of me and is jealous of anyone being too close. She doesnt like other animals (cats or dogs) around... guess she thinks they'll steal all the attention... so I've never wanted to get another pet... for the fear of crushing her feelings. She is happy and content with life and I dont want to change that.
