is there a noise ordinance there?? If it barks all night and disturbed the peace I wonder if the police could at least come and have a talk with them! That may open their eyes!

That makes me sad that people allow their dogs to languish in yards....   They're pack animals....

that stuff always makes me so sad. This is a site that addresses the issue. There's some advice on how to deal with it:

I live in Minnesota and there are a lot of huskies, malemutes, and other kinds of sled type dogs that are outside dogs. It's not cruelty, they simply have coats that are too thick and dense for them to be inside our overheated homes in winter.

However, we had a neighbor whose sled dogs, though not tied up, were in the tiniest kennels imaginable, and for many years, no one in the neighborhood ever saw them out of their kennels. Many of us called athourities, but because they were not chained up, had food and water, there was no violation. We told them repeatedly that the dogs had spent years in their tiny kennels, but it didn't do any good. The owner lied and said he ran them regularly, but we all knew that was BS.

They barked and barked and barked.... My little daughter would sneak over and pet them through the walls fo their kennels, give them treats, have them lick her hands, and come home begging us to free them. How do you explain the unexplicable to a 7-year old?

One day the barking stopped. He told a neighbor he'd found them another home, then told another neighbor a shot gun took care of the constant harrassment of his neighbors and the authorities.

Nothing he did broke any laws here, but this man should have a special place in Hell.

It's sad to hear about dogs on 24/7 tie-out. If you don't love your dog, why have one?

His name is Hendryx! He's a rat terrier! OK!

Our neighbor has his shepard tied out 24/7 as well. Get this one, Kendall is on a chain in a yard fenced with privacy fence. I wouldn't know at all how the dog is treated except that my nephew rents a room from the dogs owner. I asked my nephew does he let the dog in, No Auntie. What does he feed the dog son? Gyro meat from the restaurant he owns Auntie. When my nephew came over yesterday to do his laundry because the man won't let him do it over there, I gave him a 5 quart bucket to give the dog water in. He's a big dog but only has a bucket that holds about 2 quarts of water. His owner is gone from 9 in the morning to after 10 at night. He runs out of water in the small container. My nephew has been having to give the dog water 3-4 times a day before he goes to work at 5 pm. The authorities won't do anything, he has food and water, just very little human contact and he is a very friendly dog. My nephew tries but the owner doesn't want him messing with his dog either, so what to do?

That is a very good question Dan. Let me know if you ever find an answer, please.

this is sad...when I see dogs that are tied up and I know that they are not not taken care of I just want to set them free. I know it may sound bad but they would have a better chance running free and prob have a happier life on their own. Poor babies!

Omaha just passed a city ordinance stating that no dog can be tethered outside unsupervised for more than 15 mins. This was done in response to some pit bull attacks. That was just one part of the new ordinance pertaining to vicious dogs, that could benefit so many dogs left tied out 24/7.

That's my baby girl, Bijou! She's a Toy Rat Terrier.
