Another reason some people shouldn't be allowed to have pets. So sad. OMAHA, Neb. -- Bellevue police cited a dog owner with animal cruelty for beating his dog to death with a golf club Sunday, according to the Nebraska Humane Society. Carson Smith, 41, 1416 Saint Joachin Court, was ticketed Sunday night. Police said Smith, 41, got angry when his rat terrier, Sam, wouldn't stop barking. Smith struck the dog on the head with a golf club, causing massive skull and brain injuries. The family rushed Sam to a veterinarian's office. The dog had to be euthanized at 3:30 p.m. Sam was unconscious when he arrived at the vet, said NHS Spokesman Mark Langan. Smith was with the family at the vet and was remorseful about the incident, Langan said. Langan said pet owners should call the Humane Society's behavior hot line for tips on how to deal with dog barking and other behavioral issues.

It's times like these we learn to love again...
It's times like these time and time again.

i say lets beat the guy over the head with a golf club for breathing. is that all they are going to do is give this guy a ticket? THE GUY NEEDS TO GO TO JAIL AND BE BEAT, THAT DOG DID NT DO ANYTHING WRONG THE ONLY THING HE DID WRONG WAS LOVE HIS SKIN FAMILY IT S THE OWNERS THAT NEED TO GO TO COUNSELING AND LEARN ABOUT BEHAVIORAL ISSUES.

REST IN PEACE SAM SORRY YOU HAD TO GO THAT WAY.

That makes me sick. Creatures, like that waste-of-breath Smith, are a hair trigger from caving in a woman's or child's skull.

I wish our country would wake up...as long as animals are considered "property" and NOT "sentient beings" (as they are, by law,in the UK) ANYthing can be done to them with very little consequence.

Right now there is an actual TRIAL going on over the bludgeoning of a woman's kitty by a washed up drunk ex-ballplayer named  Joe Petcka...he tortured & beat the cat and claims it attacked him and he just kicked it away (it barely had an unbroken bone left in it's little body..even all his teeth were smashed...and was DECLAWED)

I am hoping the jury sends him up the river...would set a precedent for punishment to animal abusers....perhaps.

R.I.P. Little Sam!

What a horrible way to go. That is the very reason that Zip's people brought him to Ratbone Rescues, they were afraid the neighbor who was always calling animal control on Zip for barking would get Zip taken away or try to kill him. For BARKING, that is just crazy, dog's bark it's what they do. The jerk should have found out what was causing him to bark, not BEAT HIM IN THE HEAD WITH A GOLF CLUB UNTIL DEAD!!!!! Sure wish he would be treated like he would have been had it been a person. Won't happen, this is too sad.

He not only killed the family pet, he has permanently damaged his relationship and lost the respect of his children. How are they going to get over that and see their father in the same light they did before he lost it and murdered their dog?

That article is too kind to that evil monster...."showed remorse"......and the Humane Society rep saying owners should "call the hot line for tips on how to handle behavior issues" WTH? A person with a temper like that isn't going to call a freakin' hotline. And so what that he showed "remorse"? He was probably just sorry it got his family mad at him or that having to rush to the vet interfered with his golf game.

Karma is a b$tch.

It's a little late to charge him again. I also think that this guy needs a shrink desperately. Somehow I don't think that answering cruelty with cruelty is a useful proposition - even if it seems to be emotionally satisfying.

Today we have television, in the old days crowds were satisfied by watching the hangings at Tyburn.

His name is Hendryx! He's a rat terrier! OK!
