you wake up in the morning and there's no water.  the pump guy was just here, and he said he has to pull out the pipes in the well (they'll be back later this afternoon/evening to do it)...we have to do it on average once a year, and it's been a little more than that this time.  we have what they call bacterial rust (also called iron bacteria), a nasty thick slime that, even with treatment, clogs the pipes coming up from the well every so often.  one of the joys of living in the country...

Well... Monday is most of the way over, so good on that point, anyway.

I live in a (stuck-up) subdivision in a city with a small back yard.  Tell me about some of the cool things about living in the country.

some of the cool things about living in the country? hmm...the dogs have their own private 5 acre dog park to run around in. where I'm at, in on a hill top and can see the valley below...all the surrounding towns lights are so pretty at night. and on foggy mornings, the valley can look like a huge lake, with just the tree tops and hills on the other side of the valley peaking out and looking a lot like tiny islands. in the summer and fall, I can go out and pick fresh fruit...there are more blackberry patches and berries than I could ever pick or use, and there are still a few apple trees left from the apple orchard that was here originally. when I was younger, we had horses...very gentle old guys that would let a toddler walk underneath them and grab onto their legs without the horses moving a muscle. and, every now and then, I can look out my window and see one or more deer wander through the yard.
okay, I'll admit it...living in the country isn't all that bad...the good far out-weighs the frustrating parts, and I wouldn't trade living out here for anything.

Sounds great!

I look out the window and I see... the house next to mine, literally 11 feet away.  There is a window... and wait.. . what is he doing with that frozen turkey?!  Well that is just not right.

Bet you don't see THAT in the country!

I grew up in NYC and went to college in Boston. Now live in the burbs but have a country house of sorts. My son grew up in the burbs, liked the country house of sorts went to college in Amherst MA and lives in Pittsburgh and may want to move to NYC. The circle of life?

His name is Hendryx! He's a rat terrier! OK!
