Hey guys.

it's been a busy weekend. I got married yesterday.

Does anyone know a good way to freeze wedding cake? and is it even worth it. I've heard it tastes really bad.

I know how to do it...

Wrap it in saran wrap several times and then wrap it in foil several times. We did that and it taste GREAT a year later!

Thanks Ashley. I'll do that. I will post pictures later. My digital camera broke this week, so I don't have any, but I know we'll be getting some. The professional photographs won't be ready for a while, but i'll post some of those too.

we wrapped ours in foil and it was HORRIBLE....i guess we should have wrapped it in plastic first.

Congratulations!!

I know my sister heard from everyone it tasted awful a year later so she and her husband just got a normal cake made up in the same flavor a year later... lol... The sentiment is what you bring to it!

Well CONGRATULATIONS to you!!!

On the cake question, my freezer book says not to freeze bread or baked goods for over a month or they will lose texture, appearance, flavor and nutritional value.  Bread will totally dry out and become inedible in that length of time, I have learned from personal experience.

CONGRATS TO YOU!!! At the bakery I work at we usually give the bride and groom a box to put it in if they are going to freeze it. But we usually tell them to keep it in the refrigerator for about two day until the icing gets a little harder, then have them wrap it in plastic wrap very tightly, but it in the box and then freeze it. I still don't know why people freeze them though. We have a lot of people just have the bakery remake the top for the anniversery the next year. I'm sure it taste better. But nobody has ever complained to us that it taste bad after they freeze ours for a year.  CONGRATS again....where are the pictures!!

but one of the greatest advice i got from some lady.....   you will go thru so many stages together in life....  and when times get hard, jsut stick together and get thru it....

and when you are mad at each other, try to remember what got you two together in the first place.

and Best wishes!!!!

Congratulations.  I don't remember how I froze mine but I wasn't about to eat it after a year.  I just did it to say I did and threw it out....ate whatever dessert we ordered after dinner on our anniversary.

Congratulations! Happy wishes for many happy years together. I'd wrap the cake in saran wrap and then foil and put in your feezer...that should keep it pretty well until your anniversary!

Ditto!!  Ours was actually pretty fantastic a year later    We also put ours in a box and taped it up.  We thawed it out for a day or two (its been 9 years...I can't remember) and believe it or not, it was incredibly moist and still really yummy!

CONGRATS!!!  Yes.  We must see pics as soon as you can!

Well congrats!!!

But I must say that doing anything with cake other than eating it right away is doing it wrong.  Eat the cake... next year, on your 1st anniversary... get another cake!   That's having your cake and eating it too!

Seriously... I wish you both many happy years and cakes together.
