Well here is the scoop. I had arthoscopic knee surgery done Friday. i had a torn meniscus. Well when he went in, the tear wasn't bad, more like a nick but the knee joint was full of bone fragments. He did what he could to ge tthem out and he had to smooth out the bone to try to prevent more fragments in the near future. He said these fragments are caused form athritis. He said I would be in tremendus pain. Well when i keft the hopital on Friday night, the pain was not bad at all. When I woke up yesterday mroning, I was very surprised how good it felt. Then.............................at exactly 24 hours from the time of surgery it hit me. The pain was so bad last night that I couldn't  put any weight on it at all. THe prescription for my pain meds are for 1 - 2 every 4 to 6 hours. I started taking the 2 every 4 hours. I kep this up through the night, I didn;t get much sleep. So this morning I am in tears from the pain. I guess he knew what he was taking about when he told me tremendus pain. i always thought I tolerated apin pretty good but I am having one heck of a time thim go round.

SOrry for the typos, but I am pretty loopy. Just wanted to get on to give you guysa an update. Talk soon.

I'm so sorry your in so much pain. any kind of knee surgery is extremely painful...my dad had a hip replacement last fall, and a total knee replacement last spring, and while the hip surgery was more invasive, the knee, he said, hurt far more than the hip surgery. he was on very strong pain meds both times too, and was doing like you are...watching the clock and taking the max amount as soon as he could.

it may not feel like it now, but your knee will feel better soon. take care. ((HUGS))

That's exactly what my husband had done 8 years ago. His torn meniscus wasn't too bad either but the doc found lots of arthritis debris, too and scraped it out while he was in there. Lance didn't have much pain with his with the usual pain meds for 24 hrs (didn't even take it all actually), but he did the ice packs for two days religiously as instructed. Be sure you're doing that. So sorry you're having so much pain with it.

I had arthroscopy as well. Ice is very important. If it weren't for icing the knee I think I would have ended up crippled. Maybe not, but it sure felt that way.

His name is Hendryx! He's a rat terrier! OK!
