Geesh! Because of Ike's remnants and hurricane force winds here (Ohio - and WV and PA) on Sunday, we've had major power outages. No work yesterday due to no power, and I have no cable/internet at home, though I'm one of a few with electricity - thank goodness. The governor declared a state of emergency. I know others have been affected horribly in Texas, but I haven't been able to watch the news. I hope all of our members who were affected are doing ok.

Finally back to work today and everything here is up and running. Most of our area in Ohio is calling for restoration of electricity by SUNDAY, maybe!

Good news is...since I couldn't work yesterday and had no cable/internet to distract me at home, my whole house is clean, clean, clean. LOL

Not even going to bother trying to get caught up on here. I was off on Friday and four full days is just too much! I hope everyone is well and a big welcome to all the newbies

I just asked about ya yesterday, Tracey!  Glad you're OK!  We got some pretty strong winds in NY also, but luckily we didn't lose power... Ike was one powerful storm!!

Thanks, Sue. Physically everyone is ok, but the lack of electricity is wearing on a lot of people and businesses. Most everyone in my village without power has family and/or neighbors with power and there's a lot of people moving their food items to their homes. Many, many schools are closed (though not Mary's since we registered her in a neighboring district rather than our physical one) and might not be for the rest of the week, which is going to be a big strain since winter closings haven't even started yet. Those kids will be going well into June next year.

Thanks, Nora and Mary. No, no work yesterday (at job #1 anyway) I went home to the city buiding and got caught up on job #2 and then went home and scrubbed and wiped and washed and swept...ha ha ha. Things get a little out of hand in the summer what with work during the week and in the evenings and at the lake every weekend.

I'm glad to hear that you are ok!! I didn't realize that Ike had affected people that far north...but then again, I haven't been able to catch the news the last few days.

We get affected a lot by hurricanes. They often track up this way and cause a good bit of damage, though it's usually from flooding. This time there was not much, if any, rain, just high winds - up to 71 mph.

Our e-mail / phone servers are up by Pittsburgh, PA. Their power was out all day yesterday and finally came up this morning.... so we had no e-mail yesterday

We had some flash flooding here by St. Louis Sunday - had 2-3 confirmed deaths from it.... weird how a hurricane turned tropical storm can wreak havoc all the way through the states.

My younger son is in Pittsburgh. He called last night and was telling me that there were spotty outages all over the place. His apartment building was OK - he's right outside of downtown Pittsburgh - but lots of his friends lost power.

His name is Hendryx! He's a rat terrier! OK!
