I know this is a rat terrier site, but many people on here are animal people and can hopefully help me out.

In the middle of the night I heard my cat throwing up. Not that unusual, and when I woke up to clean it up it was a hair ball. When I gave him is food, he ate very little then threw up. After a few minutes, he ate a few more pieces, then threw up again. Then he would not come to me and while running away from me ran into a couple of things.

I am worried about him, but he is acting ok now. What can I give him to settle his stomach that he would be able to keep down.

When my kitties are sick I give them what the ferret people call uck soup.

1 can of baby food - checken

1 can of baby food (2nd stage) sweet potatoes

1 can baby food (2nd stage) bananas

mix in a small of amount of ensure (to make it more liquidy but still creamy)

and a small amount of pedialiyte.

It has helped with my kitties and the ferrets.

I mix up a batch and freeze it in ice cube trays so we have it on hand for the ferret all the time.  He is getting older and does not always eat his regular food anymore.

Is his abdomen hard?  Are his gums pale or yellow or are they normal?  Does he drink water?  If so, it he consuming more than normal?   If everything seems normal, I would give him some catlax to possibly help the hairball pass the rest of the way through.  If not, I would take him to the vet first thing this morning.  He could have an obstruction.

They have it at Petsmart.  Just keep a close eye on him and make sure he can keep water down at least.

Glad the cat is doing better.  I know it is very distressing when the fur-kids get sick.
