This makes her second loss this year. The 1st was at 12 weeks and she completely miscarried that one. This one made it a bit farther, to about 15 weeks, so she's going in for a D&E. She's checking in tonight and they will do the procedure at 7:30 in the morning. They gave her the option to inducelabor and to deliver the baby, but she passed on it. I think I would have too. They talked about closure, and her seeing the baby and things, but at 15 weeks...I think she made the right choice.
She went in today to find out the baby's gender at 22 weeks along, and there was no heartbeat. While I was on the phone with her, she said, "How can it be dead? I feel something moving inside me right now." I nearly lost it. It took all I had to keep myself composed for her at that moment (it wouldn't have mattered, but she typically takes emotional ques from me for some reason, so I thought it best to stay calm so she'd stay calm as well). I told her that I suppose she's been feeling gas, but that I also didn't know how a dead baby was in her for 7 weeks and she never knew. I suppose we are both baffled at the moment.
Please keep her, her husband, and their little boy in your prayers. He's never been away from Mommy and we're not sure how he'll fare. He can be a...errr...quite a handful I hope his grandmother can do it!! She's 6 hours from me, so I can't be of much help at the moment. I'd give anything to be there with her, though. |

| I am so sorry. The girl that works with me carried a baby to term last november, went into labor and lost the baby during labor. Then she has been pregnant twice in the last 6mos and lost both of those. She is pregnant again, so far so good, but she stays scared to death. Please know that my prayers are with you and your sister. |

I'm so sorry. I can't even begin to imagine what she's going through. One of my SIL's has had 2 tubal pregnancies and I know it was so hard for her to deal with the loss both times. It's so hard to even know what to say in these cases... ((HUGS)) |

They can tell by the sonogram how developed the baby is. That can give them a very good estimate of what the babies age is. If she's supposed to be 22 weeks, and the baby is only developed to 15 weeks, then it died approximately 7 weeks ago, give or take a week.
People don't realize how common fetal death is. Sometimes, you never know why, sometimes there may be an abnormality that is not compatible with life, sometimes the mother is exposed to some type of virus that she never knows she had or even had any symptoms and it takes the babies life.
Each baby is a precious gift, no matter how long their little lives. We need to realize how miraculous every live birth is. So many things can happen....
Prayers for you and your sister and her family. |

Thanks for the well wishes, thoughts, and prayers. Last night, as of almost midnight, she was doing OK...waiting very impatiently for an Ambien from a nurse so she could go to sleep, but I digress She kept saying how worried she was about her little boy. He'll be 2 in December and she's never spent a night away from him. I think it was something to keep her brain occupied so she wouldn't think about what lay ahead this morning. The procedure should be done by now, hopefully. I'm impatiently awaiting a call. Thanks again everyone!! |

All went well this morning. Now its her state of mind I will worry about. Something really bad has happened to her every 3 months for the past year and 1/4...her FIL killed himself (at work, no less, and caused a HUGE scandal in the area that no one can seem to live down), 3 months after that, our Dad died, 3 months after that, her husband's favorite uncle died, 3 months after that, she had a miscarriage, 3 months after that, Aunt Billie died, and now she's lost another baby. Can I just insert a big "somebody give her a frikkin' break?" here??? Thanks again for everything You guys are great! |
