Yesterday, I picked up Taffy and Aka from their stay at Camp Barking Lot. They seemed to have had a great time. I noticed last night that Aka had a very runny stool but he was acting fine so I figured he begged a treat or something off the folks at camp.
Today however, he has been very quiet and has either stayed in the bed with me or in his kitchen crate bed. he hasn't eaten anything except one treat from last night. He also hasn't been interested in picking on Taffy or playing at all. He did bark when we had a visitor but he immediately stopped, came and got in my lap and lay down.
Then I took Taffy out and she has a runny stool so I don't know if they caught something or if it is just something they nibbled at the kennel. Aka feels warm but that is probably because he burrows under the covers whichever bed he is in.
Taffy has had lots of energy so I'm not sure what is going on. Keeping an eye on it. Mom isn't feeling well either. She is having bouts of diarreah and the occasional chills. I hope she didn't catch something while we were traveling.
I feel fine so I have no clue what is going on. If anything changes in any of them, I will be getting them to their respective docs!
So just keep some good thoughts for them.
Thanks so much.

Donna, I don't think they did. I know they didn't here but can't be sure while at camp. However, Denise is so particular about cleanliness, appropriate treats and things, I can't imagine there being any chocolate there. Thanks everyone. I'm hoping that tomorrow will bring everyone feeling better. |

| I hope they are better soon. Per my vet (and my household) there is some sort of virus/cold thing making the doggie rounds right now and the symptoms involve all that you've mentioned. If it is that it seems to take just under a week. My vet have me fast them and then VERY slowly add small amounts of bland food over the next days. BUT keep them hydrated. |

| I sure hope everyone is feeling better today. I know that some dogs, like people, just get a "thing" occasionally where the bellies seem to be off, but usually resolves on its own with rest (no food). Hope that's all it is Cheryl. Keep us updated! |

Hope everyone is feeling better today. Yaz had to stay at the kennel a couple weeks ago. It's at our vets office and I have never had a problem before. But this time it took over a week to get her stools back to normal. She was also very lethargic for a couple days. Weird. |

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. I'm sorry I haven't been on sooner, but our health saga is continuing. Yesterday both Aka and Taffy broke out in either hives or something like that. Still having loose stools so per vet we have taken up all food for today to allow tummies to rest and tonight will do some boiled chicken and rice.
I gave them both a dose of Hydroxizine (spelling may be wrong) which is an antihistamine the docotr gave us the last time Aka had hives. That knocked them out last night but this morning the bumps are back. I called the vet and he is swamped today with cases. The bad part about living in a rural area is limited vets to go to. His nurse is talking to him and he or she will call me back. the bumps are still there but neither pup acts like they are bothered by them.
The only thing was Taffy who was in my lap and I was gently rubbing her to see where all and how many bumps there are and I must have hit a sore spot because she cried out and hopped off my lap. They are both in their beds in the living room resting.
I am so frustrated by everything. The bumps have come too late for it to have been something at the kennel so it must have been in the yard. Either something that bit them like ants or something they are both allergic too. They haven't eaten or gotten into anything new. The cleaning lady was here Tuesday and I have a call into her to see if she used something different, but I doubt it as I buy all the cleaning products.
I sure wish Dr. Gensil would call back. He has until 3 PM EST and I am calling back. I understand about being swamped but if he can't see them, I need to start looking at somewhere else and the nearest next vet is about 30 minutes away.
AAAAUUUUUGHGHG, well, it didn't make me feel better but at least a small scream helps to let some of the frustration out.
Please keep us in your prayers. |

Hi MB, yes we have fire ants but I never heard the cry out or run or anything. So who knows? I just finished speaking iwth the nurse at the vet's office and I am to continue the 10 mg of hydroxizine every 8 hours and if they are still bumpy tomorrow, I will head to the vet's office at 8 AM! They both act a little tired but not overly upset so I am just keeping an eye on them to make sure nothing starts to swell, etc. Taffy is on the back deck soaking up some sunshine and Aka is here at my feet begging for a nap with me.! Mom is doing better though still tired. But she said she wouldn't have traded the trip for just about anything. She is in her room hanging some shorts up and then is going to take a nap in her recliner. thanks again everyone for your thoughts, concern and love. I'll let you know how we do. |

| They could just be tired from the antihistamine. Mine have gotten bitten from fire ants and didn't cry out...Mitzy isn't allergic but Mayfly is and she would get hives, blisters on her ears, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. |

Hi MB and everyone. I am glad to know that the dogs may not bark or yelp if bit by a fire ant. I would be screaming! Anyway, they are feeling better but looking worse in terms of the bumps. You can see them esp. well on Aka. Tonight they are getting another 10 mg of hydroxizione and then at 8AM we will be at Dr. G's. Don't know if he can do anymore but I want him to see this. If I can get Aka to sit still I'll try and get a photo. I fed them some plain boiled chicken and rice tonight and they really enjoyed that and both seemed to have a little more energy. So tomorrow, after the vet visit, they get another helping. Let's hope this passes soon and that I can find out what they got into so I can erradicate it! PS, I am still planning ondoing the the transport drive unless something goes really bad with my two which I don't forsee. I hope we get some more drivers. Take care. |

Ha! Remington begs for me to take a nap too. Especially late at night, when he knows I am up too late. He sounds like a little old man, grumbling. They really tuck me in at night. I can hardly move. When I do roll over, they move away, and then right back on top of me, once I am settled. I am glad your babies are doing better. I sure get a wake up in the morning. They do not take no for an answer, til I get up. |

| Everyone here in Palm Bay sends hugs and wishes to get better soon. Both Cameo and Zipper got into fire ants last week, but we got them cleaned up before too many bites. I got bit several times myself when I was rinsing them off of Cameo and at least one festered up on me and Zipper had a couple fester. A few bits arern't too bad, but it can be very dangerous if a small animal gets swarmed. All the rains drove them away for about a week, but I saw a huge mound out in the far corner today so I'll have to take care of it tomorrow morning. |

Hi Phil, I haven't seen any evidence of fire ants but we did have a gulley washer of a rain yesterday so it may have taken the mound down. OR the mound could be on the other side of the fence in the neighbor's bushes. I will post some photos I took of Aka with an area of the bites. Poor baby, in about a square inch I counted about 12 bumps. |
