That's a fantastic idea!  Yes, Donna needs to know that we genuinely care about her and her son.  And I think "Your RT.com Friends" should pretty much sum it up, so nobody is left out. Someone please let me know where to send my $$, ok?

I agree. It is a great idea. I am not good at organizing things but who ever does just PM me with the details.

Okay, what about one of us going online to Target or Wal-Mart and "registering" Donna and Josh for items? Then whoever wants to participate can purchase items from the registry and they will be shipped to them at the hospital? We would probably need their room number or maybe we could send things in care of the social services office at the hospital.

I like that idea too  Then we could get all sorts of things that she hasn't been able to since she has been at the hospital... I mean, is anyone taking care of her home?  We could even put stuff for the puppy on there!  I bet she hasn't gotten to much new puppy shopping done yet...

I'm not familiar with registries though... will they send it all as a bundle?  Or does each item get there individually?  If they go seperate that might cause confusion...

or if there was some kind of pick and choose what you want in a gift basket sort of thing, that would be great

I'm not sure about the shipping either.  The hospital has an 800 number on their website.  If I can find the time in between holding my boss' hand while she screws up an Excel document, I might call and talk to the social worker to see what we could do.

I think sending them some puppy stuff for Remi is a great idea since she probably hasnt had time to get anything yet.

BTW Does anyone know when he is getting shipped to her?

Maybe if Target or whoever can't do a bulk shipment, we could have the stuff delivered to a member's home for "assembly" into a basket or something and then ship the whole piece to the hospital?

Just throwing around ideas....

Oh, if we're going to include puppy stuff let's do Target! They have some cool doggie stuff.

Erica - she is still trying to work out the arrangements with Remi. She isn't home right now to take care of him so it's probably better he stays with Sara until Donna is at home again.

Hey, another thought! Could one of graphics wizards put together a photo collage of Remi and perhaps we can pic out a nice doggy-themed frame to put it in that Josh could keep in his room?

hey, I know how we can put someone in charge of the taking donations part... Who has paypal!!! The whenever we make a donation, make sure you post it and how much, that way we all know how much is in the Donna/Josh fund.... would that work?

Has anyone found a site where we can create a gift basket or any other ideas like the registery?  I found this site through google, but haven't looked into it much yet... http://www.baskettreegiftco.com/index.cfm

Maybe PM's to the $ coordinator vs posting it on a public forum?  Then we get paypal or mail the $ to the person. or the gift?  Or will the money person be the gift shopper too?

Problem with this is no one is really making the trip to the hospital, so I really don't think it will get done this way .  I like the idea of a picture of Remi.  It may be hard to make a package unless someone is willing to shop and ship.  Otherwise I think it would all be shipped seperately and be a mess.

We could all send our donations to Brandy's Pay Pal account and then Brandy (if she didn't mind) could go online to Target.com and shop for the items. That way the shipment should go all together. We could suggest things to purchase.

Sounds good to me. We could post or PM Brandy with what item(s) we'd like added based on the money which was put in the paypal account.

Does anyone happen to know if she purchased that Remington collar that was posted a while ago?

Hi guys... I'm not too familiar with Donna/Josh, but I really feel for them. I know that he is terribly sick and it sounds like it's taking a long while to get better.
I'd love to help out with a few $$, but I just don't have that right at this moment. I probably will around the 5th of June. Would you all still be collecting $$ then?

Here's another thought...there is a Target about 3 miles down the street from the hospital. We could send her a gift card so that she could do some of the shopping herself, especially for more personal items she and Josh might need.

Pam, I like this idea.  Sounds like whether we go "gift card" or "gift basket" someone has to be the $$ person, (NOT ME) and organize what's going on.  I LOVE the original idea of a Care Package, but unless everyone gets coordinated to send the money to single account and one person picks out the items for the Care Package, wouldn't there possibly be duplicatations of some things?  Then there's the shipping costs, etc.  If we put a deadline on what day the money will be collected, then however much is sent in will be the amount of the gift card---whether it be for Target or whatever.  And the cost of shipping a gift card is only the price of a stamp.

Plus, Donna might like to get out of the hospital room for a little while and go pick out whatever she and Josh need.

EDITED TO ADD:  It could be a Visa or MasterCard gift card so that it could be used any where.  She might need some gas in her car or to go to a fast food place for a quick meal every now and then.  I know she is probably running short on money.

Just thinking out loud here....

Well, I was thinking of using Brandy's paypal as the donation account.

Then we could put together a registry somewhere and have the items shipped to someone's house, that person could put together a gift basket/care package once everything arrives, and then ship the whole thing at once to Donna. Of course the person who ships the final package would get $$ for shipping and the basket/box.

This way everyone can purchase what they want, it will be kept track of what is ordered, and the paypal account will be used to give the person $$ who ships it and puts it together... And we can put little very cheap things on there to for people who can only give a small inexpensive item...

We can also take pictures of the final item to show off the final package for everyone to see!

This way we only need a couple volunteers:

Some people to put together the registrey (or multiple if they want more stores)
One person to ship everything to and package it up pretty

Does that make sense? The only problems I can think of is shipping costs, but that shouldn't be to bad with the donations right? And this might take longer, but we don't really know when Josh will be out, so we don't know...
