hello everyone... not sure where to post this (was thinking Training or health, decided here instead)...

bryson is very silly and absolutely adoreable when he does this but i am not sure if its normal or a problem...

he lays in bed before sleep and rolls on his back and chew his nails on all 4 paws... he doesnt bite his pads... just his actual nails... he doesnt break them off or anything but i think he just "cleans" them... gets alll the dirt out from them... he is very hygenic especially when cleaning himself and cleaning braeli (her ears, bottom, face, etc)... its too cute!!! but is this normal? is he really just trying to be clean? like the taste? or is it a problem? an anxiety thing? I am not sure if i should let him be or take action on it.

any / all info is appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Gianni

Tinkerbelle cleans and chews her nails also.  That is usually my sign that I need to trim them.  I think they bother her when they get too long.  She is a little bit OCD about cleaning and hygeine.  You should see her cleaning these puppies!

It just sounds rather cute to me. Our Skipper cleans his nails and then cleans up Mayfly (eyes, bottom, all over!). We think it's endearing. JMO - maybe someone else knows more about our "little cleaning men"! LOL

My cat chews on his nails, I always assumed it was just part of his cleaning routine.

bethann.... i think its cleaning routine as well.... but i know i have read things about dogs chewing their feet due to anxiety... granted its nnails and not pads... but it does worry me.

marybeth... it is sooo cute to watch him do it... he looks so lil and innocent! i guess these guys really love their women!! lol... and are women are TRULY PRINCESS'!!!! lol

Tinkerbelle... maybe... but he does it no matter what... freshly cut or not. I wish i could see your tinkerbelle and her babies... the pics are great!!! I cant imagine in person!!!!

"normal"??? I don't know what "normal" is most of the time! LOL
If he's not hurting anything, I wouldn't worry about it.

All of the Palm Bay Pack does that particularly at bedtime. I think they want to be clean before sleep. They do it even after their nails have been trimmed. It's cute but when I'm asleep I hate the contant licking, I wind up sleeping in a slobber spot, yuck! Oh Well, They're the Babies, Gotta Love Em!
