Poor little Jenna. Her awful bug bites are just now starting to heal. For those of you that may have missed it she got 41 bites of some kind Monday. She is still having intestinal issues from whatever was in the water she was swimming in. Now on top of all this, we were doing a bottle drive this morning for the cheer gym the girls are in and she fell off someones steps and landed on her forehead. Oh my lord. It was one of those moments that time stood still. I saw her going but couldn't get there. The guy was really nice. He ran inside to get her some ice. Which of course she would NOT keep on her grotesquely swollen forehead. She has bloody scrapes on her face and knees. I tell you I am a WRECK! As soon as we got home she climbed into bed with her blankie and fell asleep. I keep checking on her. Oh and also, she is being sent to a pediatric rheumatologist because her knees over the past few weeks have grown to at least four or five times the size they were. What next? Wait, maybe I shouldn't ask.

Oh my goodness! Doesnt sound like poor Jenna is having a very good summer. I hope everything is ok with her. That is a bit of a worry with her forehead swollen and her wanting to sleep like that. How old is she? Keep us posted on her!

Jenna is four. When my son was even younger than her he fell and hit his head really hard and the doctor said to let him sleep. That it was an old wives tale to keep someone awake after a head injury. IDK. I keep checking on her and she's still breathing so I guess that's okay. Gosh I just feel so bad for the poor little button.

Oh goodness...how we survive those childhood years is still a miracle to me! I hope your little darling begins to feel better soon, and I am hoping everything goes well with the doctors. Remember to stay calm and keep giving her all the love you have been!

I was actually AMAZED that I stayed calm when she fell. It was hard to keep my tears in check but I did. I was shaking and sweating but I don't think she noticed. I just held her and spoke quietly in her ear. I really think it helped her. Ooo she woke up. Gotta go!

She slept for about an hour. I think the stress of it all wore her out. She didn't look so great when she woke up but she ate a sandwich and has been playing and coloring quietly. The swelling and discoloration on her forehead looks MUCH better but the scrapes all over her face look worse. I am telling you this kid is gonna kill me!

Poor kiddo!! I hope everything ends up OK with her head and with the rheumatologist. Its a scary feeling to know that something might be wrong, but nobody really has a clue as to what's going on.
It took 12 torturous months to get Susanna's diagnosis of an immune deficiency. Those 12 months were pure hell. I knew something wasn't right, but none of it added up. I stayed an emotional wreck until the day someone finally said what she had.
Big hugs to you guys!!

Amy... I'm bringing up the proverbial rear on some of these posts...so I missed this.
Can you give us an update on Jenna please? Did she go to the doctor yet concerning her knees?

I hope that she feels better soon too. Bad summer for a 4YO. Does the doctor think that these symptoms may all add up together to one allergy?

Sorry I haven't seen this post till now.  How is Jenna now?  I am wondering if whatever she was swimming in made her sick also gave her a rash, maybe they are not bug bites and she has something in her system making her swell and maybe making her dizzy.  Having said that my 4yo has head injuries all of the time.  I can't tell you how many times I call the doc and ask what are the symptoms of concussion.  She hasn't done it in a while though.  I usually check her pupils with a flashlight first to see if they respond and then make her walk to see if she is staggering or walking crooked.  Also, if they throw up that is a sign of concussion.  Since this happened days ago, I'm hoping that she is doing OK.  Please let us know!

Sorry to hear Jenna is having a rough time of it..... Sure hope things improve soon..... Hang in there Mom! Children are so resilient....I'm sure she's gonna be ok..... Sometimes kids get kind of clutsy as they go through growth spurts....maybe that explains her falling..... Hope everything is alright...

Aw....thanks for checking on her guys. You're the best! The knot on her forehead is reduced to a grennish bruise and most of the scabs on her face have fallen off. Sounds nice huh? So she has recovered from her fall quite nicely. Her bug bites are healed but they are still visible. I'm hoping they will fade overtime. Her intestinal issues also seem to have cleared up. Her knees however are not doing so well. Odd thing is she still says they don't bother her. I can't even stand to look at them. We got the results of her bloodwork and her rhuematoid factor was negative but her ESR(test for inflammation) was high. Also her XRays showed swelling of the soft tissue and fluid build up. So she has an appointment with the rheumatologist next Thursday. It's going to be a long week.

poor baby! what a bad summer for a little girl! I'm glad she's feeling better now. I hope they can figure out what's causing the swelling in the knees, and that it's nothing serious.
