I talked to her yesterday afternoon. She was on her way to Best Buy, to get a new printer for her laptop, to print out her paperwork for her insurance or FEMA. She said the house is full of white fuzzy mold. She has just been busy. I am sure she will check in today. |

| Jan, please be SUPER careful of the white mold. It is the most dangerous kind. I used to work for a water damage restoration company...was there when our flood hit...and they drilled it into us to make sure our masks were on at all times around that mold! |

| That mold sounds really bad - is she wearing a mask or something when she goes in there? |

She said she is wearing a mask, but the smell is still unbearable. She probably won't be making too many trips back there now... |

Hi Kids... Its a great feeling to know people are thinking of me .... I do appreciate it more than you know.. Its been non stop since the flood .. As Donna said I did get a new printer, even better then the other one I had . It also prints photos.. There will be a town meeting on Thursday about the "Franklin Buy Out" the mayor is wanting to apply for Federal grants to buy all the houses destroyed in the flood plane area.. and turn it into a park.. My neighborhood is a ghost town... so many destroyed and empty houses... Hemphill street, ( 2 streets over) only has one family left on it.. the street is pretty low and the whole street was wiped out.. Its so sad in my neighborhood, it used to be teeming with kids and families, now nothing but ripped up houses.... lawns and yards that used to be so pretty with flowers etc, all torn out and nasty.. Yes the mold is horrible in the house... the entire carpet is covered in white, everything that was in the water is covered in mold. the air is so thick you could cut it with a knife.. The legs of the tables in the living room are covered in the mold ... Its disgusting to see... and my poor fridge.. the freezer was full of meat, and its been 3 weeks without power... can you imagine how nasty that is? I haven't touched the fridge and don't plan on it... it might explode! lol mega yuck It breaks my heart so see my home like this... Makes me mad that I am paying mortgage payments on a house I can never go back to... Thats why I am still with Brenda and Jerry, I can't afford to get another place to llive.... Can't pay mortgage payments and rent too... Evveryone in my neighborhood is in the same boat... Cept I am one of the few lucky ones that had flood insurance... some of those people had no insurance at all... so I'm in better shape than most of them... I will be glad when I get a home again.... I love Brenda and Jerry a bunch and they have been more than kind to me, but I want my own home... Sassy has been such a little trouper... being a very good girl and dealing with it all very well... as long as she is with me shes good to go... I took her to the plant today and let her run, and she ran and ran, and sniffed and sniffed... Did her a lot of good to get out and ride and run around The yard that is fenced where I'm staying is pretty small and she cant get into the full tilt boogie thing.. I do have the Toby Keith concert to look forward to.. Aug 2nd... and the week of the 14th I am off.... I think I am going to KY to visit family and chill for a while... and maybe get my mind off all this stuff.. I have a hard time with the visions of the basement walls caving in on me and the way the water sounded when it engulfed my head... |
