My rattie aren't much interested in anything that's already dead...they prefer something alive that they can chase.  But Morgandy, maybe because she's a pup?, find the nastiest stuff.  We were walking along the other day and I saw something dangling out of her mouth, a good 8 inches long something.  Turned out to be a dead, flattened snake!  Then she found a dead bird at the cemetary....picked that up and was going to take it home....she is now learning the LEAVE IT command!

Mine usually only get to roll on dead earthworms....except the time Mitzy found some opossum pee to roll in! Yikes - someone got a bath that day!

Ughhhhhh!!  Rolling in the stinky stink is what I call it!!  My babies find the most disgusting stuff to roll in, and once one finds it, they all run over and roll in it... and it usually stains their coats and the REEK!  But they're just being dogs, and there is a reason they do it - I think it has to do with them masking their smell when they hunt or something like that.

I don't normally wash them off - it's instinctual for them.... unless it's REALLY bad... then they get washed off!!

This is all funny as Fred is the same way. One day I seen him rolling around in the back and I thought he was just enjoying the sun til he came in with brown steaks across his back and smelled like S*&^ (literally). Oh yeah, he got a bath.

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too

OMG I laughed so hard! Button and Zipper just have to roll in dead earthworms and the little baby garter snakes they find dead in the yard. We have a lot of both! I just hate the stink on their necks when they do it! Gotta give them a "neckwash" afterwards. LOL

Molly did that when she was younger too...Molly found a dead snake one time and dragged it around for at least an hour...the thing was HUGE too, about 4 feet long and fat.  She's also dug up a dead gopher or 2...one of them was full of maggots.  Now Molly is past the playing with dead stuff phase...she's a great hunter (or so she thinks), who prefers to find rodents and birds alive....the chase is soo much more fun to her now.

Dogs and stinky things...it's a quandry. The latest storms flushed out our gutters and buried drains (our gutters drain underground and come out down a llittle hill). LOTS of decaying bio matter and standing water emerged. We had to clear it off asap as the puppies (Dawson and Peanut) will NOT leave it alone. Someone had the squirts the other day, someone else throwing up. They are fine, just hard to corral. OH adn lots of rolling in things out in the yard. I can't see anything when I look so I can only imagine the feral cats have been marking there.

Thanks, Val!  If you have a Yahoo ID, just go to Yahoo and click on their video link.   http://video.yahoo.com/ and it allows you to download your videos there.  It's easy!
