At my job, we have a birthday luncheon every other month for staff members who are having a birthday during those two months.  It's usually a potluck luncheon with a theme.  Today's theme is "Take me out to the ball game" celebrating baseball season.  We're having hot dogs, chips, potato salad, and stuff like that.

I was just curious what everyone eats on their hot dogs.  Does it vary in different areas of the country?  Some of the toppings that we have to choose from today are chili, mustard, catsup, onions, cheese, and pickle relish.

So what do you eat on your hot dog?

I don't like too much "stuff" on my hot dog...just ketchup and sweet relish. Others in my family like to add mustard and onions to theirs.

Depends - they have to be really GOOD hotdogs for me to eat them.    Usually I'll eat 'em plain or with a bit of hotdog relish.  Not a big ketchup/mustard/condiments fan.

I like mustard, mayo, chili, cheese, sweet relish, then somemore cheese and mustard. really don't like the taste of the wenies. every once and awhile I will put Fritos or Cheetos inside of it under all of the other stuff. but yes it has to have a least mustard and sweet relish.

I would not have guessed so many added mayo.

I did work with someone who moved here from North Carolina, she had to have ketchup and mayo mixed together for a condiment on everything. She used it for dipping fries. Got me hooked.

Chicagoans are very picky about their hot dogs. Chicago style hot dogs include: all beef dog, mustard, relish (picalili), tomato, chopped onions, sport peppers, pickle, cucumber salt, i actualy like cucumbers too, all on a poppy seed bun. No Ketchup!!! I LOVE hot dogs

I absolutley LOVE hots dogs done "Chicago Style"---with mustard, onions, a slice of tomato and a dill pickle spear, but NEVER ketchup.  Oh, and on a whole wheat or poppy seed hot dog bun, too.

MAYO?????   Eeewwwwww.

I'm pretty plain and boring, just lots of Mustard for me. Any type of Mustard will do. (Brown, yellow, Dijon, spicy etc)

I bet I don't eat two hotdogs a year.... just never cared much for them.
Now if they are grilled, I'll eat one! But I don't want anything on it...
Now bologna? That's a different story! I can make a meal with bologna and crackers!

If I have a chili dog it has to have cole slaw on it that's the way my grandmother made them for us but if no chili just a plain hot dog with some relish.

Well then, I am way out odd. I like my hot dogs with a little mayo and some cole slaw!

Here in my part of NC, your choices are usually: ketsup, mustard, chili, cheese, slaw, onions and/or mayo.
A hamburger is with cheese if it is a cheese burger. Choices on either are chili, mustard, mayo, ketsup, cole slaw

Can't have a good cook out of hamburgers and hot dogs without creamy slightly sweet coleslaw (which has sweet pickles chopped in it)!! And of course baked beans. Best way to have them is with mustard, ketsup, brown sugar and bacon.

Now do you call what you drink as in soft drinks, colas or pops or sodas?

Well I have been wondering what to make for supper. Pam you are not responsible for my menu!! I am doing hamburgers with cole slaw, fresh home grown sliced tomatoes, lettuce and mayo for me. Mom will do the same but without the mayo.

We will be having cokes (really real Coke, diet and caffiene free for mom, regular caffiene free for me.)

As a side dish, I will probably steam some fresh yellow crook neck squash we just got with some sweet onion and maybe green beans.

Now off to the kitchen to get started. Oh and for the cakies out there, I have some slices of lemon pound cake for after the meal!!

Why folks... there is only one way to eat a hot dog... with Sauerkraut on it!!!

Anything less is just a wiener on a bun.
