So the glands thing has come up in a couple conversations recently, and I realized I don't know how to tell if they need to be expressed?  What should I look for?

I've heard that they might start scooting their bottoms on the ground or licking that area alot. Also, they might start stinking or bulging in that area.

Sassy scoots her bottom sometimes... I was told that they are activating their own glands when they do this..
But I don't know either for sure...
I never heard of such a thing till I joined this site...

Scooting, swelling, possibly odor. I don't think it is too commom for them to get plugged, but from what I understand scooting is the biggest sign.

Thanks Mary, that was a good article. Good to know you should only do it IF they are having problems.
