Grooming dogs!  I love grooming class!  I'm really thinking about starting grooming dogs on the side and eventually have my own business if I get busy enough.  I've already had a ton of people at the park tell me to let them know when I'm ready!

I think that's great. I am going through the whole "starting a new business" thing right now...it's frustrating, but I KNOW that it will be worth it in the end! As I've said before...I would be more than happy to ship my Sampson to you...it would be a great lesson in nuerotic dogs!!! (He shakes uncontrollably the entire time he is being groomed...hence the reason he looks like a rag-a-muffin right now...at 11yrs old, I don't know that he could handle another grooming..he might have a heart attack or something.) Right now I just trim up around his eyes, feet, and clip his nails...that's about it. It's getting warm so I know I'll have to give him another "shave" but I am SOOOOO dreading it!

Well, Jefferson might be a little far from me considering I'm in Cali.... but if I ever bring Mic back home to Cleveland again maybe we'll take a road trip! Your not toooo far from Cleve. are you??

Hey, since your going pro you might be able to answer a question... how often are you supposed to bathe ratties? I heard only if they need it because they have sensitive skin and short hair so they don't need it that often... but Mic seems to go good for about 2 months with no bath. Is that normal?? I mean, I'm always cautious because of the soap and his bad eyes so I'm always nervous to give him a bath, but I don't want him to be stinky... I always thought 2 months was too long in between, but that's what we were told the average was for ratties... Did you learn about that yet??

I'm only 1 1/2 hours east of Cleveland. She said that short haired dogs should get a bath about every three months unless they get really dirty. With Teddy he has allergies so he's supposed to get a bath every three days but I've not been doing that. Also she said that the soap does not bother them and that you should start with thier head first. Our routine is this:

Start them on the table, trim the hair on the feet, trim the nails then into the tub for the bath.
Wet the head, ear cleaner in the ear, then soap up the head. Then wash the rest of the body working back to the but. Empty the anal glands if they need it. Then rinse.

Towel dry in the tub then back to the table for blower dry. Then dremel the nails to take the sharp edges off left from the clipers. Now your all done.
