The Ipod I won doesn't have an instruction manual. Of course, most of it is pretty self-explanatory. What I'm mostly wondering is if there is a way to download music from Windows Media Player to the Ipod, or do I have to go through Itunes?  I have a couple hundred songs on my Windows Media Player that I have already paid for, and I really do not want to pay for them again.

It was a long time when I loaded my music to iTunes but since some was on CD I am fairly sure I used Windows Media Player. I just don't recall how. You should be able to go to iTunes web site or use the help - that is what I had to do because i did have the isntruction booklet but the text was sooo small I couldn't rad it LOL.. My old one was a shuffle now I have the newest nano.

with ipods you do have to go through itunes to put songs onto your device, but IF the songs you paid for are saved on your hard drive, you can either change what they open up is as in make them open and play in itunes rather than windows media player. or another way, is to sync your i pod to you computer and then find where your music is located on your computer and drag the songs to your ipod so they can sync with it and be added. also remember that if you delete a song from your computer that you put on you ipod, there is no way to take it from your ipod and put it back on your computer. you can delete it from your ipod but you cant retrieve the file. also if you went to the itunes or ipod website it may give you further instructions or tips when dealing wit hthis. if you have anyother questions just fell free to ask. i am pretty good with technology. plus i am 19 so i am programed to understand this haha good luck, its easy once you get the hang of it

Okay, you should be able to transfer your music from windows media player into Iunes. As far as I know, the only way to get music onto the ipod from the computer is by going through itunes. You just have to tranfer or convert your existing music into the program in order to use it. The easiest way that I have found is to find what folder (s) your music is stored in. Once you have located that folder, make sure that everything in the folder is stuff you want to transfer. then open your itunes folder. Under the "file" tab, you will see alot of options. Select the "add folder to library" option, then look through your computer until you find the older your music is in. Slect it, and the music should import into itunes. Then you can transfer to your ipod. Also, you can upload any cd you want into itunes and it will be easy to put it onyour ipod. I have the video one, so if you need anymore help let me know and I'll try. Hope this works.

you do have to go through itunes to put the songs on your ipod, but heres how you get the songs from windows media to itunes..

YOu need to find the file that all your songs are in windows media player.
Open itunes, go to file and "add to library" search through that window to find your windows media songs. once you find them, rather than having to add them one by one just click on the first song, press shift, and then click on the last song. they should all be highlighted, then click "add" and they should be in itunes now!
when your ipod is plugged in, it will show up in itunes on the side menu... i.e. "missp's ipod" simply drag the songs from the library to that name and they will be put on the list to be put on you ipod.

goodluck, hope i helped.

everything everyone is giving you are good diections you should be able to follow easily. but on another note adding to my comment about if you delete ethe songsfrom your computer after putting them on you ipod and not being able to retrieve the files, that goes with burning onto a cd as well, when i got my first ipod that was my mistake, i put the songs onto my ipod and then deleted them from y hard drive, then when i wanted to burn a cd i couldnt with the songs on my ipod. i found it silly that the songs take up all the gb on the ipod and on the computer, what a waste of room, they should make it so you dont have to keep the music crowding you comp as well.. oh well it is what it is

Thanx Amy! i love messing around with things like this. i dropped my dvd player where the dvd slot would not come out it was totally messed up. i ended up opening up the whole dvd player and messing around with is and making it work again. it was a challenge but i got the job done

I will definitely have to revisit this thread when I get back. My daughter has an MP3 player that she got for Christmas and we still have not figured out how to download songs from the internet. She paid for a 1 year yahoo membership to be able to download music and we have never been able to do it. Christmas was a long time ago and we can't get it to work still... such a waste of money!!!

This is a really nice model. I like how it uses Wi Fi, thats really cool, anyway ok...

first, make sure you connect the mp3 player to your computer and make sure the computer recognizes it.

Next, open Yahoo! Music Jukebox. you need to drag and drop the songs to the Sansa Connect icon in the left column.

to transfer photos and videos, you need to use the sansa media converter,  with this software you can crop, rotate, and resize before transfering them to the device or your microSD. to do this, press the ADD MEDIA button and choose the photos and videos you want to transfer. when done press the convert button.

now this is one way, but there is another option to use.

you may transfer files using windows explorer. From MY COMPUTER, open the sansa Connect device, and then open the Internal Memory folder.

to transfer music, locate the music files you want to move, in the formats MP3, AAC, WMA, or WMA, and drag and drop them to the Music folder. for photos you do the same thing except the proper format, and drag and drop to the video folder, and etc etc for the videos

now if you want to transfer your files to the microSD card, insert the card and open the expansion memory folder and do the same drag drop and i have described.

let me know if this helps or not, if you have tried this and it didnt work for you, let me when what happened when you tried it. what ever happens could tell me what to do to fix it.

hope this helps  good luck

~Erin

My boyfriends brother just gave him his ipod mini and I took it to the gym with me today and I had so many problems. They really take some getting used to, everything with mac takes awhile to get the hang of.

yeah my MP3 player is by Sensa and I just love it to death and it was only 38 dollars and its so easy to use. Everyone at my school has the video ipod i donno how they afford them and then of course macbook pro. Because everyone needs a 2000 dollar laptop! The ipod today was not locked in my pocket so the sound kept going up and down lol I guess my leg was rubbing on it.

This is the kind I have. It's so tiny and back lit and the sound is good. Plus you just charge it by plugging it into your laptop w/ a usb adaptor, its nice.

thats great, i know i dont understand, like when the first ipod video came out, who needs a $400 mp3player!? do you really wanna watch a video that is 3 inches by 3 inches? and yeah i have a friends as well that has that one mac laptop, and it was like $2,000 and then her fishtank exploded and ruined it lol, the only reason i laugh is because they told mac something was wrong with the mother board, so they got a new one of that and it was fine again. but it was hilarious when it first happened lol, thats why you dont put a HUGE fish tank on the shelf above your laptop, especially when it has a filtration system and you over fil it to where it just leaks its self dry haha

My boyfriends brother spilled milk on his macbook lol With his first laptop he got a free ipod and we got that one too and sold it on ebay when money was tight. Then he got a new one and gave that to us also. We will probably sell that one too lol No one in my major owns a windows system at all. Even the teachers say they are crap. I run PS3 perfectly on my sony Vaio and other programs they have told me wont work as well. The colors are different on the Mac's, supposedly so much better. My friend is always complaining about how poor she is yet she has a ipod video. I guess ppl have their priorities.

yeah, i have a friend who always tlks about how she wants another purse or another pair of shoes. meaning the designer stuff she buys. her jeans are almost $200 each (she has a few) and purses are around $300 to $400 (she has a couple as well) shes very materialistic. the most ive spend on a purse was $100, and that was a lot for me! ut i use it everyday and its really durable, so it was worth it. but while shes talking about all the materials she wants, im talking about how i wanna work A LOT during the summer so i can get a dog and basically spend everything to make her happy. hmmm i dont think she is as happy with her jeans and purses and i will be with the companionship on the pup im about to get. but thats ok, people have different priorities. and shes a good person so i dont hold it against her lol

Thank you all so much for your responses. Unfortunately, nothing I have tried has worked. I keep getting a message to the effect that my files can't be converted from a .wma file. But then I am really tired tonight, andorra am probably doing something wrong. Will try again tomorrow when I am well rested.

I got a Nano Ipod for my birthday... the manual is online, but it's 72 pages long and I haven't read it ... nor have I attempted to do anything other than download Itunes. I didn't really ask for an Ipod, since I have an MP3 player in my car and that's where I listen to most of my music...
but i have it and will try to figure it out eventually ....
