The first item on my list: CAMERA w/ EXTRA batteries |

When you own a Rattie....you KNOW you are in your right mind
THE MEANING OF RESCUE
Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed, All nicely tucked in my warm new bed. I'd like to open my baggage Lest I forget, There is so much to carry - So much to regret. Hmm... Yes there it is, right on the top Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss, And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame. As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave - I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain. I loved them, the others, the ones who left me, But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me. Will you add to my baggage? Will you help me unpack? Or will you just look at my things - And take me right back? Do you have the time to help me unpack? To put away my baggage, To never repack? I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see, But I do come with baggage - Will you still want me?

I'm one of the organizers, so I hope I can give you the right information. Here goes: Camera with extra batteries, sunscreen, chairs, umbrella, leashes for each of your dogs +1 (don't laugh, my dog chewed one of mine and I ended up one leash short), water bowl, bottled water, small first aid kit including benadryl, a hat, comfortable shoes, and a small snack for you and your furry kids. Also, be prepared to have lots of fun, meet new people, and have more fun. It's a social event! This is our first year in the new place. It is a big open farm field right by the KOA. When we went to scout out the venue, our dogs had a ball! So many smells, so many new things to see! We look forward to seeing everyone! |

Awesome Patty. Thanks so much. I'll be coming from Maine so I won't have my doggie ... really bums me out ... but I'm sure I'll have enough of my friends doggies to go around. Thanks for doing all the work on this ... sounds like fun. D |

| Some post cards from home might be a good idea too...you can always write your contact info on the back and give them to people you want to stay in touch with. We do this when we travel to Europe. |

I'm looking forward to that weekend in April to meet some new friends, see some people for the first time that I have "known" for over 2 years, and see some familiar faces that I haven't seen since last year. I keep checking here on and off to see who has added their "I'll be there" to the threads about the jamboree, and I cant wait to see you all.
I have a freestanding 10' x 10' shade tarp that I will bring---being that this will be in an open area, there may not be much shade if it happens to be sunny or hot that weekend.
I'm really getting excited about this. |

I know . I'd so love for you to all meet the "Vinster" in person. His photos don't do him justice. His personality really shines and adds to his loveability. If we could drive, we would, but it would take too many hours and too much vacation time. Maybe someday. I'll be after all of your doggies so you'd better watch out. Auntie Doreen will be very sad without her Vinnie kisses and will need to have some stand-ins for those couple of days.

I've added to my list, a couple of Aka's dog towels (old and if they don't make it no biggy) but if I know Aka he will find something to get into and will need to be dried off at some point. We also have a small ground quilt that we sit on in the back yard so I'll probably have that in the car too. And Kim, I am so ready to meet sweet Amos and I'd love for him to sit in my lap!! When I was in Hawaii, I had an 85 pound Lab that was convinced he was a lap dog and anytime I sat on the couch, he would sit on my lap, and my chest, and my legs and parts of the couch and well you get the picture!! I am also bringing my portable pen, it folds up, has a carrying handle and is fairly light weight, not sure why I'm bringing it but I am. At other events I have attended, folks who had the 10x10 tents, set them up in sort of close proximity and that made for a larger shade area, just a thought. and yep, I'll probably bring mine too. I think I will have to pack some sort of rolling something to carry all this stuff!! LOL |

| I'm taking my X-pen, too, Cheryl. Just don't know if I'll have problems with Zipper, to be quite honest. If it pans out she just does not mix with the bigger dogs (usually what she has issues with), I can contain her easily. Defending herself as a stray has permanently warped her feelings about BIG dogs and cats, I fear. |

I have two dogs available for rent. Both are qualified to participate in obedience, races, and agility. They're not real happy that mom is going to be too busy to enter them in events. |

I am "shopping" for an x-pen to bring and also a shade tent. That would be a great idea to set them up together if the room permits, at least then we know we will always be able to find someone within our group LOL. One other thing..don't forget the car chargers for the cell phones!! I found it much easier to have a car charger than the one to plug in to the wall..you wont walk out of the hotel room & forget it! just a thought. |

I just realized that I had forgotten to remind everyone, too, that on the Jamboree Website, there is a dreaded "Fine Print" page. Unfortunately, we have to have rules in order to make it a safe time for all.
Also, we are having a cookout on Friday evening at 5:30 (the day before the actual events), and in order to have food to feed everyone, we need folks who plan on attending to please RSVP to ratterriermoma2z@yahoo.com. We'd hate to run out of food.
This is going to be so much fun!! |

I read the "fine print" and emailed someone there about the "big dog rules" to make sure it was ok to bring my dobie with me. I didnt want to get all the way there and find out that she wasnt supposed to be there. They said it was ok, but the campground has a strict "NO PITBULL" policy.
ALSO---everyone that attends is asked to bring something to donate to the Ratbones Raffle, which I think is a great idea! |
