I think having an FYI notice type of thing would be a great idea... that way everyone can have some extra time to work on a theme whenever they have the time. No one would feel rushed like how we're doing it now a theme just pops up... Some people just might not have the time to create one before the thread gets old (or disapears off the first page of topics  )... It would also allow more time to get those creative juices flowing! 
I think every week may be too often, maybe every 2 weeks? And this way we might get more theme ideas from anyone too... Do you have an idea how you would set up the topic FYI/calander thing though? |

| Kim, since it was your thought to do a graphic thing every so often, maybe you could pick a theme -- people could make suggestions and you could pick one or come up with an idea yourself. let's talk to Morgan about how to do the FYI thing -- I don't mind pinning it at the top of the contest forum as a "just for fun" thing -- but she may have a better idea of where to put it. What do you think? I'll talk to her if you want me to -- or you can. whatever. |

Hey guys...this might be something you need to talk to Lance about. I talked to him about having a seperate forum for Photoshopped pictures a while back because I know some of you were wanting to do that but he wants to keep the forums to a miniumum.
I believe he said he didn't mind there being one post that is 'pinned' in this forum that has tips and pointers on how to edit pictures and what programs to use.
Other than that, I'm not really sure. I know he probably isn't going to go for the idea of pinning all of the themed pictures...because then you might as well have a seperate forum for them if they are all pinned at the top of the forums we already have.
You can ask him about including them in the contest forum...but when I asked about having a seperate forum, he said to just include them in this forum...so I dont know if he'd go for that or not?
The only thing I can think of is to keep doing what you are doing. Start a theme every few weeks or once a month in this forum and just let people add to it as they please and then have one post that has all the 'how-to's of editing pictures'.
I would just talk to him and see what he thinks. Sorry that I'm not much help!

I think we meant to just pin something like a schedule, or calander for the themes, not the actual pictures... at least that's what I thought. This way we could know ahead of time what theme is coming up so everyone would have more time to prepare. Then once that day comes to post the theme, one of us would post it as a regular topic in the pictures of ratties section as a normal topic, and everyone can share their creations there.
We could just make a simple topic in the contest area and pin it there. Something simple like this:
March Theme: Pirates
April 21st Theme: Movies
May 5th Theme: Cinco de Mayo
May 19th Theme: Beach Bums
June 2nd Theme: Ratties in Love
June 16th Theme: Outerspace/Aliens
June 30th Theme: ?
for the dates I just went every other Saturday... 2 weeks per theme, we don't have to go by that, I just did it for the example...
Then if anyone has an idea we just edit the first post to update the calander. All ideas for themes would be given under this calander thread in the contest area though.. does that make sense?

| Morgan, we weren't going to pin the pictures -- just pin the current theme -- Like Kim gave in the example above. For May we would pin -- May Themes - May 5: Cinco de Mayo, May 29 Theme: Beach Bums. Then we would start a thread for the Cinco de Mayo pictures that would NOT be pinned. Then in June we would change the pinned thread to read: June Themes - June 2: Rattie in Love, June 16: Outerspace/aliens. Then we would have new threads NOT pinned for those. In other words only one pinned thread announcing each months themes and then changed monthly with the new theme. So, it wouldn't be a lot of pinned, long threads -- just one short announcement thread that would change monthly. Does that make sense? |

Maybe we could start the theme schedule in the contest area in the meantime, just not pin it yet until we get the ok from lance and morgan? I don't know, what do you think? |

See, I knew Lance would know what to do. Sorry, I didn't know what was going on. Plus didn't have much time, I was on lunch break earlier.
I can add things to the site but have to pass it by Lance first. So, it's easier when you guys want something major like this to just ask him first, that way I don't explain it wrong to him. As you can tell because, I had no clue what was going on and definatly would have been asking him the wrong thing!

I see what you mean Cheryl... I don't see it when I hit reply either. Something must need to be changed in the set-up area??
I'm just so happy that we'll have a separate area for the graphics pictures now so they'll be easier to find!!  I just spent 15 minutes trying to find the movie themes thread in the regular photos, and was about to rip my hair out... didn't see the new area!!  |

Love all the new movie themes that have been added... this was sure a fun theme!
I've been sending the ones I did (plus a few extras) to my 4 1/2 year old grandson... and he loved all of them until I sent the Charlotte's Web movie poster! My daughter said he got really mad when he saw Holly in the picture, because he had just recently seen the movie, and he said he didn't SEE Holly in the movie!
When I did "pirate" Holly he was telling his friends at preschool that Grandma has a pirate dog!! |
