Starting our movie theme thread. Here's my entry for Katie Scarlett and Gone With The Wind. Also, know this isn't graphics, but gotta add the Katie Scarlett with Mammy pictures!

That wasn't Mammy that said that... it was the young girl with Melanie and Scarlet the night Melanie had the baby.....
I can't remember what they called her tho.... I believe the actress was Butterfly McQueen..
am I right Jan? or was she the one that played Mammy?
Boy do I need to watch this movie again...

Okay, let me set y'all straight on GWTW (being I'm the Queen of the Southern Court -- for you newbies, that is a leftover from the old, old site)
Butterfly McQueen did, indeed, play Prissy. Mammy was Hattie McDaniel, Oscar Polk played Pork (you real fans will know who Pork was).
Of course, we know Clark Gable was Rhett Butler and Vivian Leigh was Katie Scarlett O'Hara (yes her first name was Katie, not Katherine). Both were, in my ever-so-humble opinion, perfect for the part. Olivia de Havilland (I think I spelled that right) was Melanie. But, how many of you know who played one of the Tarleton twins???? Hmmmmm, any guesses? It was none other than Superman (George Reeves). That no-back-bone man that Scarlett only thought she loved, Ashley Wilkes, was played by Leslie Howard. What a wimp he was! We all know Scarlett screwed up big time when she let Rhett slip through her fingers. BTW, here's another picture of Katie Scarlett in her namesakes character! |

Not sure about the GOOD part... but it sure is lots of FUN!! 
I feel bad that we lost the "thread" where we'd collected some feedback and suggestions for software, tutorials etc. for doing graphics.. before the old board went down. 
I'm not sure what to do about it.. maybe Morgan could "sticky" the topic at the top of the photo board so that we can add it again???
Jan... now that you're the "contest girl" does that mean that you could have some other "special events" type things in the contest area? I'm not sure if you had mentioned the movie theme thread before, and I missed it?? I didn't find out about it until I saw your avitar of Katie in "her movie" and wondered what was happening and found it in the pics thread.
Do you think we could maybe have a "themes calendar" pinned to the top of the contest forum as a "just for fun" thing to do (not a contest) but could list different themes for each week, (or each month... depending on how often we wanted to change the themes) like the pirates, movie theme etc. so we would all know ahead what the "theme" would be for each week/month and could work on them when we have some spare time, and post to a thread in the photo section??
Just a thought?? I don't get that many at my age!  |

| I don't see why we couldn't do something like that, just as an FYI notice. Kim is the one that came up with the idea - Kim, does that sound OK to you. Whenever you or anyone else comes up with a theme, I can pin it on the contest thread, even though it is not a contest - it would just be a For Fun thing -- is everyone okay with that? |
