Bless his heart! My grandmother had a shih tzu that was scared of storms. He would go hide in her closet and whine until she came in there with him. Once she said it was okay to get out, he would be fine.

Poor Max! Bonnie was afraid of thunderstorms, but Dix and KS don't seem to mind. Having said that, I sure wish we'd get one!

Poor Max! That is exactly what Loco is like during a thunderstorm. She was ok with them until she was with Bill's golden retriever who was terrified of them...I think she learned to be afraid from her.

Poor little Max. Lucy isn't really phased by storms. My vet told me that you can rub their ears and apply pressure to the tips of them to relieve stress. It is a pressure point.

Poor Max. My babies aren't scared but they will bark at the thunder. Thanks for the info on the pressure points Colleen.

Awwww, poor Max My girls aren't bothered either, but my friend's used to have a chow mix that hid in the bathtub during storms/fireworks.

Thanks everyone. I hope that the storms are over for now. We got 3 inches of rain last night /early morning and more this morning (don't know how much) Poor little Max! At least we managed to get his food and tricks in last night (tried to video them but it didn't turn out) before it started storming again.

Awwwww.... I'm sorry Max doesn't like storms. But your mom is doing the right thing... just calmly holding him and he does look like he's "tolerating" it. We had a german shepherd once who came through a glass door when it stormed. Talk about a bloody mess... it was horrible, and we weren't home at the time it happened. I felt so sorry for him.
