Ok, this is the kind of stuff I am talking about between Skippy (our foster) and Trixi....It seems like play MOST of the time...but every so often I get nervous....I am always right there.....

what do you guys think?  I am leaning toward that they jsut play WAY more loudly than Toa and Trixi do.  I just want to be careful and safe!  Thansk for opinions and imput!

I would think they are just playing, but I'm interested in what others say.....

My two can get real loud and mouthy with each other when they are really wound up. Like for example if we haven't gone for our walk yet and they have all of their "extra" energy they want to get out.

It looks like high spirited play to me. It looks like one of them is always willing to disengage.  I wouldn't worry unless you had to separate them. It looked like Toa was ready to put a stop to any nonsense if it escalated.

Sounds and looks like they are playing Mary. Cameo and Zip can get totally berserk sometimes. If you do get concerned just make them stop. Sometimes they just get way too loud here and I make them give it up for a while. If they are not hurting each other or biting, etc., I wouldn't worry too much. I don't think they look like they mean any harm to each other.

High octane play - but watch it because that type of play CAN escalate to a fight with certain dogs so good to keep an eye on them.

Bethany is right -- that type of play can escalate very fast... but from what I saw it was (1) playing and not fighting and (2) they were getting on Toa's nerves! LOL

I didn't have the sound on (didn't want barking dogs to be heard in the office!) but it sure looked like play....Trixie was having a blast! LOL  However, like the others said, with a new dog in the mix just keep an eye on things because that type of play did escalate once here....they were all playing like that and then Sorley got cornered on the couch and he went after Wulfie.  It was all bluster and no biting but still I broke it up.

Oh, definitely play!!! They're having rattie fun!! Mine do that ALL the time, only MUCH louder and usually much more vicious (sp?) than yours too. When it gets too loud - for me - or I think Chloe is getting a little rough, I break it up by distracting them with another activity. I wouldn't worry about it all, but would keep an eye out when they do play - just in case.

Well i'm glad to see that other ratties do play like this. When Pixy was w/her "brother" Chewbaka they got pretty vocal too.............but i always made sure they didnt get too wild.

I think it's just rough play, too. But I also think I saw some pack pecking order statements in the body language. You haven't had Skippy long, and that is probably still going on, too, with each and every interaction, even play.
