I take two pkg of chicken thighs aprox 18 to 20 thighs

2 containers of chicken liver drained

2 boxes of instant rice large box

i big bag of frozen mixed veggies

and two large cans of fat free chicken broth

i boil the chicken till meat is about to fall off the bone set aside to cool and then remove bones and shred .....i chop the chicken livers  dont over boil the liver it will turn to mush i take those out before the chicken is done

take out half the water you boiled the chicken in and ad one big can of chicken broth

bring to a boil ad the big bag of mixed veggies let boil 15 mins then i turn the burner down and ad the 2 big boxes of rice, mind you i cook all this in my big huge crab pot when the rice is done i ad the shredded meat mix well and bag and freeze

the 1 big can of broth thats left over i ad to the food as i heat and serve to the dogs dinner to give them some juice and i mix in some dry dog food to give them some crunch, my dogs are spoiled i do this every two weeks and have no probs with stools and not a one of them have yet to get sick from eating this food......My vet said when he passes away he wants to return as one of my dogs cause my dogs have it so well....lol

its a lot of work but to me they are worth it

thank gawd i love to cook

We have no kids i had cancer when i was in my 20's and cant have kids so i have my fur babies  who are our kids

Hey Sandy!! Thanks for this!!

I wasnt aware that dogs could have rice?

Also- Do you freeze the food in between days? Or just make, refrigerate it and serve it for two weeks?

ya they can my pekingnese has a very sensitive tummy and the vet told me to feed her rice and cottage cheese its considered bland and i have had no probs since i started cooking their food been doing it over a yr now, i freeze it in containers Tupperware, take it out and defrost as i need it, put what i need in a bowl and in microwave to warm and ad chicken broth just enough to juice it up some... the large batch i make lasts me two weeks... i have never had any probs with loose stools either. i would try a small batch and see if your dog will eat it and see if her or his stool changes... some times their stool will somwhat change when you change food depends on the dog all dogs are dif i have been lucky mine adjusted well and they eat every bit of it
if you need anything let me know
Sandy

Thanks so much sandy!

I think Im going to try your suggested recipe but instead of the rice mix in a little bit of evo hard dog food!

I read on a website last night also that Dogs cannot digest whole vegi's - that many of the nutrients are not obsorbed that way?
I think I might try juicing them and adding them to the food that way.

This food stuff is so confusing!!! There are so many opinions and ideas. But I like you recipe.
thanks again
