Ok, for all those fans of Harry Potter( If there is any) you might already know that July 11 is when the 5th movie comes out! And July 21, the 7th, final book will be released! Finally! I've been waiting a year and a half for this book! And the movie! I suspect it will be EXTREMELY CROWDED at the theaters, but hey, I will chance the crowds! And I am going to the book store at 11:30 pm on July 20 and wait until 12:01 A.M, July 21 to recieve my book!

I'm super excited too. I can't wait to get my book and start reading it. I'm almost finished re-reading the first book to refresh myself. Can't wait. What do you think is going to happen? Will Harry die? I hope not!

I have alot of theories on what could happen that would take ages to list! Like who is the mysterious R.A.B.( is that right, i don't recall the exact). In one of J.K. Rowling interview, she did say that 2 characters would die( I would like to think Harry is one of them because without him the series really couldn't continue and J.K.Rowling wouldn't want to leave him alive so some other author could come and make up an afterlife of Harry) I hope that it isn't harry though! I am going to scan over books 1-6 to look for hidden clues and refresh my memory! After the books are released we shall see what has happened!

CAN"T WAIT. A friend of mine is convinced that RAB is Sirius's brother. I don't know though. I don't like to guess on these things, it makes it less fun when I actually read the book

I have some friends that also thinks it is Sirius brother because he wasn't personally dealth with by the Dark Lord and it would make sense if it were....and what about Snape? Is he traitor to Dumbledoor or actually, the dark lord? So many question, I can't wait till the book! It took me 29 hours, straight to read the 6th book which was 870 pages and on mugglenet(don't know if its reliable or not) the 7th is supossed to be 784 or something like that. So when that 7th book comes out, I won't be on the site, until i am finshed reading the book! I will stay up from the time I get the book to the time I am finished with the book!

I won't have to worry about fighting for the book with anyone in my house. My darling Fiancee doesn't read, and my furbaby can't read. Though, I like to read to the both of them, so who knows.

I think I'm more excited than my kids (I'm 48 they are 17, almost 13 & 10) and when we get our book at midnight July 21st, my oldest has volunteered to start reading it aloud to us on our drive home (we have a 1/2 hour drive to Borders). We may stay up a few hours (or longer) to keep reading.
Bangor Borders is putting on a Hallows Ball Event with a live band, costume contest, Harry Potter Spelling Bee, Snape Debate, and other fun stuff while we wait for 12:01 am.
When my oldest was 7 (in 1997) I asked him if he wanted to read Harry Potter (me read it to him) and he said no, when I asked why, he said that EVERYONE at school was reading it and he wanted to be different (he's always been this way.... ) A co-worker friend of mine read it and gave me her copy and told me to read it myself, that I'd love it. So I did, when Seamus (that's my oldest's name, and thanks to the Harry Potter movies- fellow Gryffindor Seamus Finnegan- more people know how to pronounce it properly) saw me reading it he kept "non-chalantly" asking me what it was like. I got through the third chapter being repeatedly interrupted by him, finally I suggested; How about I start at the beginning, read some aloud and if you like I'll keep going. He agreed, and he was immediately hooked in to the story, as was I, (though it would take another year for him to actually admit he LIKED it! ) As the two younger boys got old enough to understand we kept re-reading them aloud, so all told, we've read them all aloud three times, plus each of us has done repeat readings of them on our own!

It's just really great fun. No worshipping of Harry (or magic of any shade) going on in this household. When I was a child I was enthralled with the Oz books (and the one movie that I still love after truly countless viewings) and have the entire set and read them all repeatedly. I didn't know anyone else who read all of them or cared, so I was in this little world of my own, with no one to share it with, which was sometimes kind of sad. (though I enjoyed my fantasy world on my own) I think it's really cool how we can all be so connected about certain things (like Harry Potter, or say... Rat Terriers!) with people in all walks of life that we might not ever otherwise know, and share our interest and excitement about something.
All good things must come to an end.... but it is hard for those of us who have come to love these characters. But stories, books, they live on forever, just like my Oz books, Harry Potter is classic. We'll just keep revisiting them.

P.S. I got the year/age wrong of when we started reading Harry Potter, it was 1998 and my Seamus was 8. Just wanted to correct that. I always liked the fact that J.K. Rowling got the idea and began to write about Harry Potter in 1990, when Seamus was born (in July, same as H.P.), and Harry Potter was "born" , as her character anyway, then also.

While I've eagerly waited for the final book of Harry Potter, I am an obsessed fan. I don't buy HP blanket sets, clothing, pens, pencils, folders, etc). Until recently(like 2 days ago) I've breathed a word of Harry Potter!  I don't worship Harry Potter, he's just a fictional character brought to life by a brillant author's imagination. There are however some really obsessed HP fans, that pratically worhsip HP and even though its a figment of someone's imagination, that is wrong, on the point I agree with you, Jeff.

Just as there are obsessed HP fans, there are obssesed non-fans of HP. I knew this Christian couple( mainly the wife had something against HP) and in her exact words " Harry Potter is the work of the devil!". She didn't like Lord of the Rings for that matter( Took me ages to actually sit down and watch all 3). While, I respect everyone's opinion, I think she shoul have showed a bit more respect for those who like HP. Ok, she was against Magic, and magical creatures, then why did she go see the Narnia Movie? I will tell you why: According to her, Aslan( the lion) represent Jeus Christ and the white witch, was the devil. In my opinion, it boils down to one thing: GOOD VS. EVIL.

There is however a Church that has stood up for HP.

I have copied the article from http://film.guardian.co.uk/print/0,3858,4598349-3156,00.html

Catholic church stands up for Harry PotterStaff and agencies

A Vatican spokesman has defended the Harry Potter books and films, saying they are consistent with Christian morals.

Guardian Unlimited

The Rev Peter Fleetwood, a member of the Vatican's council for culture, was speaking at the launch of a document warning of the dangers of "new age" spiritual beliefs to the Catholic faith. The draft document is designed to counter a perceived drift away from the church toward belief in crystals, feng shui and other practices not based in Christian teaching.

Asked whether the Harry Potter books fell into the same category, Mr Fleetwood said, "I don't see any, any problems in the Harry Potter series." He went on to say that the good v evil message of the books was consistent with Christian morality.

Countering suggestions from some evangelical groups that the tales of magic school add glamour to occult beliefs, he said, "I don't think there's anyone in this room who grew up without fairies, magic and angels in their imaginary world. They aren't bad. They aren't serving as a banner for an anti-Christian ideology.

"If I have understood well the intentions of Harry Potter's author, they help children to see the difference between good and evil. And she is very clear on this."

Finally, he said JK Rowling was "Christian by conviction, is Christian in her mode of living, even in her way of writing."

The fifth Harry Potter book, The Order of the Phoenix, is released on June 21, with the third film expected later this year.

THIS IS MY THING. HARRY POTTER IS NOT REAL. KIDS LIKE HIS STORIES I DONT SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM, IT COMES TO THE PARENTS WHETHER THEY TEACH THERE KIDS RIGHT FROM WRONG AND EXPLAIN TO THEM IT IS NOT REAL. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD THAT DO PRACTICE BLACK MAGIC FOR REAL. I AM CATHILOC I BELIEVE IN GOD AND MY SON KNOWS THAT THERE IS NO MAGIC THAT IS REAL, WE SIT DOWN TOGETHER AND WATCHED CHARMED I DONT KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE WATCHES THAT BUT I THINK IT IS A GOOD SHOW. IF PEOPLE WANT TO STICK THERE HEADS IN THE SAND THEN THEY CAN DO THAT (NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE) BUT YOU HAVE TO KEEP YOUR EYES WIDE OPEN AND TEACH YOUR CHILDREN WHAT IS GOOD AND WHAT IS BAD AND HOPE THEY LISSTEN TO YOU!!!!

I am a HUGE Harry Potter Fan. I don't buy all the commercial stuff I just have all the books in hard back and all the movies on DVD.   But I love the way the books really make your imagination work and the movies really help put the charecters in perspective.
