I bought the movie "We Are Marshall" and we watched it last night.  It is a super movie.  It is about football, but so much more.  In 1970 Marshall University in W. Va. lost almost the entire football team and atheletic department when a chartered plane returning from a game crashed.  All but about 4 football players were killed, along with the coaching staff, atheletic director and boosters.  This is the story of rebuilding the team.  What the town and university went through,  etc.  Matthew McConaughey plays the new football coach (a job no one wanted) Jack Lengyel.  This movie will make you laugh and make you cry.  It is inspiring.  A movie you will like even if you aren't in to football.

We have a friend (business associate) whose parents were on that plane.  He was attending Marshall and had younger brothers and sisters.  They wanted to split the family up -- but our friend and his now wife, said no and he raised his brothers and sisters.  Quite a story.

That story hits home here too. The team that they were coming home from playing, was East Carolina University. My home town team. Everyone here was heartbroken when it happened. (so I'm told, I wasn't born yet) I do know that when the movie came out, EVERY Theater was packed, it was almost impossible to get a ticket.

We are Marshall is one of the best ones I've ever seen. I have the DVD. But I also saw it when it first came out in the movie theaters. It really is a good movie. But  then I like any movie about football. Another good football movie is Friday Night Lights
