This is not a joke---it's for real.  Was in the Indianapolis news this morning, but I didn't know where else to put it on the forum.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Fire crews had quite a stinky mess on their hands Thursday morning after a dump truck hauling sewage collided with a minivan at Mann and Mooresville roads.

According to crews at the scene, the truck had no top on it as it hauled excrement, striking the van from behind at about 9:30 a.m.

The truck's load shifted on impact, rushing sewage onto and into the van, which was carrying a family, and onto the street.

Decatur Township crews were working to clean up the mess. No one was injured.

It's bad enough when Kevin comes home from having to work on an old sewer line (doesn't happen often..but does happen)...I make him strip down in the laundry room and put his clothes straight in the washer!!

There might not have been any injuries from the wreck itself, but once I got that mess off of me, I would have injured the driver of that sewage truck!!!!!!!!!

I hope the driver of the sewage truck gets a lot of fines! Isn't it illegal to haul things like that without a cover on the truck? My van would have to be declared a total wreck. I don't think the smell would ever go away.

hahaha---reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where the car picked up "B.O" from a parking valet and they could never get rid of the smell!  (of course, to me, everything that happens reminds me of a Seinfeld episode!)

Speaking of B.O., the hallway outside of the classroom where I had my classes on Friday smells like B.O.! I don't know if it is from the carpet or walls or if someone who has an office near there has B.O. and walks through leaving a scent trail.

Can you imagine the nightmares that family has had?! I would be showering over and over again, even though the sewage was outside the van. EWWWW! They had to step in it when they got out of the van!!! Those shoes would be in the trash.

I wonder if the driver of that truck was perpetrating a no-no by hauling that stuff around uncovered??  That surely can't be legal.... not to mention ti's the most revolting thing I've heard of in a long time!!

It can't be legal to carry sewage like that!  I hope they get their van replaced because no way would the smell ever come out.  And besides the grossness - who knows what bacteria would be lurking in that $hit!

Apparently the truck was hauling sewage sludge that is 20-25 years old from a water treatment plant to a landfill.  It sounds like it's been treated, but man, that is still gross.  It should have been, at the very least, covered and probably should have been transported in some kind of tank.  The link has a slideshow and the woman that was driving the van looks like she's smiling so it couldn't have been as bad as I thought.
