This is prety cool. Give it a try.

Here is a math trick  that  will stump you.  Personally I would like to know who came up with this and why that person is not running the country....

  1. Grab a calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in your head)
 2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code)
 3. Multiply by 80
 4. Add  1
 5. Multiply by 250
 6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
 7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
 8. Subtract 250
 9. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer?

Strange h
uh?

so whats your first three digits...  just kiddiing

±Look at it like this:
Let x = 3digits (555), y = 4digits (1234)
Then the problem is:
[ (80x+1)*250 + 2y - 250 ]/2
Distribute the 250:
[ 250*80x + 250 + 2y - 250 ]/2
Simplify:
[ 20000x + 2y + 250 - 250 ]/2
Then 250 - 250 = 0:
[ 20000x + 2y ]/2
Reduce:
10000x + y
Substitute:
5550000 + 1234 = 5551234

It is just a fancy way of moving the first 3 digits over four places and adding the last four

Got it fixed

Actually I am a Software Engineer, but my Calculus 2 teacher did try to talk me into being a math professor.

I love math and everything math related.
